Bibles for Iraq
About This Campaign:
You've seen the horrifying images of men, women and children being savagely ravaged by terror in Iraq. You may wince at the photographs of the brutal beheadings of American, British and Japanese innocents. You may be appalled by the video footage of the Egyptians and Ethiopians being mercilessly marched to their death. You may feel anguish over the pictures and other evidence revealing the mass slaughter of Iraqi citizens. And you may grieve over the exodus of Christians and other religious groups by the thousands, as well as the dire poverty that now plagues these displaced refugees.
Perhaps you've wondered how you can help make a difference in Iraq for such a dark time as this. How can you care for the oppressed and hurting? Most importantly, how can you make an eternal difference in the lives of the Iraqi people?
As for all nations, the greatest need in Iraq is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and at no time are the Iraqi people more aware of the reality of life, death and eternity than now. In the midst of immense evil, Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." We must remember that this is a spiritual war for the souls of men.
That is why Christian News Network is spearheading an effort to take the word of God to the Iraqi people. Our project, Bibles for Iraq, will focus on bringing the Scriptures to as many refugees as possible—many of whom cannot read or write and have NEVER had access as much as they do now. In America, Bibles are easily accessible, but not so much in Iraq, and especially not when you live as a refugee. And as most refugees are illiterate, imagine the compounded difficulty in ever being able to receive the Scriptures.
Romans 10:17 reminds us that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." With this in mind, we have an opportunity to purchase special solar-powered audio Bible devices that can reach illiterate Iraqis by bringing the people the Scriptures at the touch of a button. These audio Bibles will be uploaded with both the Old and New Testaments, programmed for dual languages—Arabic and Kurdish—and will provide many Iraqis who may never otherwise hear the gospel the opportunity to receive the power of God unto salvation.
We hope to take these audio Bibles to northern Iraq later this year and put them in the hands of a people who have been more devastated and displaced than any other people group. Will you join with us as we work to reach our goal of $30,000 to purchase 1,000 audio Bibles? The cost for each solar-powered Bible is approximately $35, plus transport. So, please consider a donation of $40 or more to help us reach our goal. However, a donation in any amount will be a blessing to the Iraqi people. Your gift of the Scriptures to a displaced Iraqi refugee will help to work to change the nation. 100% of donations go directly toward project fund and are tax-deductible. A receipt will be e-mailed to you for tax purposes.
Please make your donation today and share our funding page on Facebook and with your church, family and friends. The Lord bless you, and thank you for caring about the souls of men for such a time as this.
