For several months now I've been passing a small strip shopping center (3-4 stores, including Auto Zone and Dollar General) and every time there are about two dozen plain white panel type vans neatly lined up in the parking lot. The license plates are plain with with black lettering - I think I saw "government service" on them. The other day I noticed that each van has a bumper sticker with a phone number: 800-311-3171.
I Googled the number to see who it belongs to and maybe get an idea of what all these vans are for, but got a message saying this number is not a matter of public record!
Anyone have any idea of what these might be? If it's so secret, why post a phone number?

I wouldn't worry about it. God is in control. Rom 8:31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Hey popcorn, why don't you call the number and see who they belong to?

The "311" is just a prefix - it's not an "11" number, so there shouldn't be any extra charge. (Oh oh....ELEVEN!!! IT'S A SIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I nominate popcorn to call that TOLL FREE number and see who/what is behind this....

I called the number because i too thought it was weird. They wouldnt tell me what the unmarked vehicle was. It was so strange! Just wanted to know if they were driving recklessly. And then wished ne a good day and hung up!

Thanks for calling them.

Thanks, Gomez, but it's still sort of odd, given that usually companies will have their vans painted to promote their business - it's free advertising. I would imagine that AutoZone would have at least their name prominently displayed on their vans; I wonder why they don't?

These white vehicles (vans and small cars) are all over DFW area in Texas as well. They are extremely, EXTREMELY dangerous, violent, psychopathic lunatics!
I was almost rammed off the road by one, and then the lunatic cut me off and SLAMMED on his brakes going down Shiloh Road on 2/14/2018!!! Then this murderous lunatic HARD JERKED his van from the far left lane to the far RIGHT lane THROUGH HEAVY BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC, only to turn LEFT from the FAR RIGHT LANE, BETWEEN VEHICLES!!!!! Cars were slamming on their brakes ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE!!!!
This was a white Nissan mini van, license plate GLB6829, and had a yellow sticker on the back with that 311-3171 number, and "vehicle #AC26912" on the sticker.
This isn't the first time one of these murderous psychos have tried to kill me on the road! There's another one that frequents speeding down Parker Road in Plano, Tx, driving the SAME exact way with the SAME sticker on the bumper!
If you have had to deal with these lunatics, get the make/model of the vehicle and the license plate number and file a complaint with the State Department of Transportation. Be sure and tell them they are a part of these murderous, psycho drivers with that 800-311-3171 number on them!

I've said it before - there's something odd about the fact that they're unmarked. If they belong to Auto Zone, why aren't they painted with the Auto Zone logo, or at least have a magnetic sign stuck to the doors? Not to sound paranoid or anything, but... (Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you! )

They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.Wisdom begins with the fear of God.God is in the midst of the fire. We have a legion of unmarked vans, that number is for a safe driver program, you call it to tell them we are driving like idiots. And no, AutoZone doesn't advertise our delivery vehicles because it makes us targets for theft as we generally ride around with several thousand dollars worth of car parts. Y'all are some conspiracy loving fools.

Thanks for the info, but your "fools" comment is rude and uncalled for. I've seen signs and bumper stickers that ask, "How's my Driving? Call XXX-XXX-XXXX" - it's pretty stupid to put a phone number on a van or truck with NO explanation of what it's for.

I had the pyscho driver /white van yesterday 2:41 pm in central new york. vehicle was behind me for almost 4 miles did the swerve left/right, almost off the road in lane then swerved into oncoming traffic lane and almost went off the road. i finally got to a two lane section of the road so he could pass. he pulled along side , i slowed down. so did he. i pulled in to a parking lot to get out of the way. I could see him laughing. white male mid 30's , dark ski hat on, goatee, dark brown hair.the license plate was unreadable as it was covered with "mud/snow" and i couldnt get a photo but did see the bumper sticker with the 311-3171 number. didnt call it.

I am at the shop getting some work done on my car. This shop has parts delivered as needed. When my parts arrived the driver had an unmarked Chevy Colorado with normal plates. There was a sticker on the window with this number. I googled it so I could try to cut out the middle man the next time I need parts. As I'm typing this another Colorado pulled up but this driver has an Auto Zone jacket on.

I thought it was weird he cut me off and had a sticker asking how their driving was so I wrote down the number quickly at a stop sign before I could get the individual number after the toll free number a emergency service vehicle (police) with lights on came by so everyone pulled over EXCEPT that vehicle! They decided to continue driving and then stop in the middle of the road and make a left turn right before the police officer passed… so I called and reported the vehicle make and model and location since I didn’t have the # to identify the exact vechile the woman was very nice and took my complaint I didn’t ask what the company is for but very interesting reading this

It’s prolly just because car parts can be expensive and they don’t want anyone trying to steal anything from the van.
