With a large kitty family, I've bought a fair share of kitty condos, beds, cat trees, cat scratchers, etc. Well, you know how that goes! With the cat tree they got for Christmas they had a ball watching me put it together while they played with the screws, the plastic that pieces were wrapped in and - of course - the box. The moment I was finished with it and placed it in front of the window in an alcove I had turned into what I hoped would be a kitty paradise, they all walked away...and haven't given it a second look.
Cat scratchers are another topic - I have horizontal ones, vertical ones, and although I FINALLY have most of them trained to use it, a couple of the kids still give me trouble. And then there's cat beds...I'm sure all you kitty lovers have bought fancy beds for your furbabies, only to have them prefer the box the thing came in.
So, I saw something on Amazon: the Petstages Snuggle Scratch & Rest, which is a combination kitty bed and scratcher. It looked cute, was inexpensive ($11 when I got it), and the reviews were excellent: 4 1/2 stars out of five, with almost 300 reviews. Since I was ordering a bunch of stuff from Amazon, I figured I'd give it a try - what did I have to lose but $11?
The box arrived; I removed the Scratch & Rest from it, and put it out, fully expecting everyone to pile in the box and ignore their new toy. What happened next was astounding: the cats gathered around to look at the new addition; eventually one climbed into it...then another. They were mesmerized by this thing...and most amazing of all - the box it came it was being totally ignored!!!!
Not only did they seem to love it, but - as you can see from the pictures - they actually waited on line to use it! Often more than one cat would try to fit in there, pushing off the one who was already there. I expected the novelty to wear off after a couple of days, but no...their interest was unabated, so much so that I had to order a second one. In fact, I recommended it to a friend who adores her furbaby, but she said no, her Midnight had no interest in such things. She buys from Amazon a lot, so I told her it was worth the small investment - and to her utter amazement, her kitty loved it as well.
It's now been over six months, and it's rare to see these Scratch & Rests unoccupied. If you have a cat, please consider getting one of these; you can find it right here.
MOVE YOUR BIG FAT BUTT - I WAS HERE FIRST!
FINALLY GOT IT ALL TO MYSELF...
GET ON LINE AND WAIT YOUR TURN!
BEAT IT! YOU'VE HAD IT LONG ENOUGH - NOW IT'S MY TURN!
