False Prophets & Those Who Follow Them

If you've read the "Here's Your Sign" thread in the Apostasy forum and the latest rant in The Soap Box forum against false prophets, you'll know that I have no respect for either them or those who hang onto their every word.
Ron Reese, for example, has been proclaiming false prophecies and setting "definite" dates for the rapture for 38 years now, and most recently claimed that it was "confirmed" that the rapture would definitely be on January 28, 2012. Well,l it's now January 30...and we're still here.
Amazingly, people continue to hang onto his every word despite his abysmal track record, and some are even encouraging him to continue on in his (deceptive) work!
Marilyn Agee is another false prophet who has been "prophesying" dates for the rapture for years, and she too has been wrong time and time again...yet she still has her loyal following.
People like them arrive at their dates through divination, lying dreams & visions, twisting God's Word (often using several different translations to get the meaning they want), and numerology - torturing numbers from various sources (including the Bible, numbers in the news, numbers on license plates, numbers on a clock, number of days between events, and more) until they say what these phonies want them to say.
The Bible tells us that NO MAN will know the day or the hour, yet these false prophets (and their foolish followers) claim that we can figure out the date of the rapture, because it's a puzzle and "god" gives us all kinds of "clues." As justification for their actions they use Proverbs 25:2 - "[It is] the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings [is] to search out a matter." I've even read where one person wrote, "God didn't say we shouldn't try to figure it out!" Well, God didn't tell us that we shouldn't stick peanut butter up our noses either, but that doesn't mean it's right to do so!
The Bible also tells us:
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." - Matt. 7:15
"And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." - Matt. 24:11
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect." - Matt. 24:24
"Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets." - Luke 6:26
"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." - 2 Peter 2:1
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." - 1 John 4:1
"Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart." - Jeremiah 14:14
So, here's the issue for debate:
Do you think these people who call themselves prophets are genuine Christians with good intentions, or are they deceivers who lead the sheep astray and are lost? Could it be they're blaspheming the Holy Spirit by attributing words to Him that He never said?
Of course, none of us can judge whether or not a particular person is saved, but what is your opinion, in light of the above Scriptures as well as this one:
Matthew 7: 21-23 - "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
