After French Police Dog Killed in Terror Raid, Putin Does Something Incredible for French People

The Russian government is offering to send a puppy to France in honor of the police dog, Diesel, who was killed in an anti-terrorism raid after the Paris attacks.
Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev offered to send a puppy, Dobrynya, as a gesture of solidarity.
Kolokoltsev said the offer was “a sign of solidarity with the people and police of France,” and the puppy would be able to replace Diesel during special operations to “neutralize terrorists,” according to The Express Tribune.
Kolokoltsev also said, “I ask you to accept from Russian’s police dog handlers this shepherd puppy, who will be able to take his place in the ranks of Diesel, your dog who died doing his duty,” according to the U.K. Daily Mail.
Diesel was a member of the SWAT team and was sniffing out booby traps in the apartment block in Saint-Denis when she died Wednesday in a suicide bomber’s attack. Her death prompted an abundance of support, including that of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The dog’s name comes from the hero of Russian folk legend, Dobrynya Nikitch, who was known for his strength, courage and goodness. Dobrynya is currently living at a police dog center in Moscow and will have to undergo a series of medical checks before heading to France.
The ministry posted a photograph of the 2-month-old puppy Friday and also showed him on state television on Saturday.
This little puppy is just another example of how Putin has approached the terror attacks in a much different way from President Barack Obama — who has done little to reassure people that similar attacks won’t take place on our soil.
