Wow, just...wow. I know Church of Christ is legalistic and has some unorthodox beliefs, but given what happened to me today, I'm amazed at their hypocrisy. They claim to follow the Bible, and part of their belief system ("Steps to Salvation") is that one must repent and choose God's ways, and live faithfully as a Christian....or you'll lose your salvation. They own the property where I fell, and being hesitant to take a church to court, I called the office and told them what happened, informing them that I had suffered two shattered ankles and a fractured leg, leaving me in a wheelchair for months. I said I'd rather settle directly with their insurance company, and the woman I spoke to said their agent would call me. He never did, so I sent them a certified letter, once again explaining my injuries. Guess what? They refused to sign for the letter! Do they think that by ignoring what happened it's going to go away? I tried to do what's right; now I'm livid, given their total indifference and their shirking of responsibility. Please pray I can find a good, blood-thirsty lawyer. I'd have settled for a reasonable amount, but not anymore! We're now talking BIG bucks! They want to act like godless pagans, fine - that's how I'll treat them. Heck, for that matter, pagans would do what's right, because they believe in karma! If there's one thing I can't stand it's phony Christians, because they make the world think ALL Christians are fake like them.

Well, I called a dozen or so lawyers in town, and not one would take the case. I couldn't understand why, because my injuries were catastrophic, until one said, "Oh, I can't sue that church - the judge is a member there!" So...the truth comes out... I thank you all for your prayers - the other day I signed a contract with a law firm that's over 100 miles away, so they won't be in bed with that judge and his pseudo-Christian buddies. Please continue to pray for a quick and favorable outcome. I'm hoping to settle out of court, but if it comes to that, no doubt my lawyers will have to ask for a change of venue, given as there's an obvious conflict of interest with the local court. If you're unfamiliar with the deviant beliefs of the Church of Christ (the church that owns the property I fell on), I'm going to put a post about it in the References & Resources section of the Apostasy forum. Thanks.
