Is this how Jesus DIED? 2,000-year-old crucifixion victim offers major new evidence
A 2000-year-old skeleton of a man with a hole in his foot has been hailed as major new evidence proving that Jesus really did die as a result of being crucified. By CIARAN MCGRATH PUBLISHED: 07:48, Fri, Jun 1, 2018 | UPDATED: 08:59, Fri, Jun 1, 2018 The remains were found during an excavation of a tomb in northern Italy and are only the second physical example of wounds usually associated with crucifixion, with lesions on the right heel. Even though the Romans were known to have crucified tens of thousands of people over a period spanning almost one thousand years, actual physical evidence is uncommon. Prior to the latest discovery, the sole other other example consisted of a seven-inch nail taken from the body of a Jewish man found in a tomb in Jerusalem in 1968. Evidence is so rare partly because the wooden crosses which the Romans used disintegrated so rapidly. Full article with pictures and video at link
