Biden: U.S. Won’t Be Able to ‘Have Economic Intercourse Around the World’ with Coronavirus Travel Bans
By Craig Bannister | April 28, 2020 | 3:46pm EDT The U.S. is not going to be able to “have economic intercourse around the world” if it doesn’t become more globally engaged and restore funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), Former Vice President and Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden warned Monday. In an interview with a local CBS affiliate station in Miami, Florida, Biden was asked if, as president, he would restore America’s funding of WHO, which President Donald Trump ended. “Yes, I would,” Biden declared – adding that, if pandemics like coronavirus aren’t addressed by the global community acting as one, the U.S. won’t be able to “have economic intercourse around the world”: “I would get much more engaged in the world; we can’t step back. If, in fact, for example, we solve the problem in the United States of America and you don’t solve it in other parts of the world, you know what’s going to happen?” “You’re going to have travel bans, you’re going to not be able to do, have economic intercourse around the world.” “When it’s America first, it’s America alone,” Biden concluded. link
