Police had their hands full, as some of these groups started fires and smashed cars. May Day is an international day of leftist protest, but demonstrations in Berlin on Saturday drew participants of all stripes. Pro- and anti-vaxxers, trade unionists, anti-capitalist radicals, Palestinian activists and techno music fans all took to the streets in around 20 separate protests across the city. Notably absent were the extreme right, although small right-wing protests were held in other German cities. WATCH chaos gripping Paris as violence & vandalism mark May Day protest
1 May, 2021 16:12 / Updated 1 day ago Lawlessness swept over the streets of Paris on Saturday, with left-wing protesters smashing windows and lobbing stones and fireworks at riot police. The cops have responded in kind, charging and clubbing the rioters. May Day protesters took over the streets of multiple French cities, with the worst of the early clashes happening in the city of Lyon. Nearly 100 officers were injured in the skirmishes, local security officials said on Sunday. The march, which is held annually in the neighborhoods of Neukoelln and Kreuzberg, has a long history of violence and rioting. This year, the rally was registered as an event for 1,000 participants due to the Covid-19 situation. Nevertheless, some 8,000 marchers showed up for the protest that soon saw clashes with the police. Continued at link

Police speed into Brussels protest with trucks, blast demonstrators with water cannon (VIDEOS)
1 May, 2021 18:29 Police in Brussels wasted no time in dispersing protesters and illegal partiers from a park, rushing in at breakneck speed in tanker trucks and dousing the demonstrators in water. Last month’s April Fools ‘La Boum’ party drew thousands of people to a nonexistent concert in the Belgian capital of Brussels, for a gathering that turned into an impromptu protest against the country’s coronavirus restrictions. Police cracked down hard on the gathering, and shocking video footage showed mounted cops mowing participants down to the ground. The revelers returned to the La Cambre woods on Saturday to show their displeasure with Belgium’s ongoing restrictions. While the country’s lockdown was relaxed last month, strict limits on gatherings remain in place. Continued at link
