Meet Honor!

I still cry over my Autumn every day - she is, without a doubt, the best dog God ever created, and I can't wait to see her again. Meanwhile, I decided that in her "honor" (thus the name) I would adopt another shelter dog. No dog could replace Autumn, but I wanted one both for the exercise I'd get from walking it, and also for protection.
At first I got a coonhound/beagle mix, but she didn't work out. She was a sweet dog, but was an escape artist and would take off running at the drop of a hat and my days of searching all over for a dog who ran off are over - been there, done that - so she was returned to the Humane Society.
I saw a cute dog at a county shelter's FB page, went to meet her, and brought her home. For some reason I felt I should bring along the collar I had gotten the original Honor that had her name and my phone number, and had them put it on her before I left. I had the car window open just a few inches so she could stick her head out, and I noticed it had gotten very quiet. I turned around...and she was gone! Poor thing must have been scared, first being dropped off at a noisy, bleak shelter by people who didn't want her anymore, then she was in a car with another stranger going who knows where.
I thought I'd never see her again, but a day later I got a text message from someone who found her and saw my number on her collar! I went and picked her up (leaving all the windows closed this time!), and brought her home.
Honor is a two year old pit bull with a bit of black lab; no problem with her wandering off - she's always at my side and follows me everywhere. She's a sweet girl; she's just recovering from being spayed - her prior owners didn't take very good care of her. She had no idea of what toys are, but she's learning!
