So, it's your kitty's birthday...and you want to make her something special. Well, she's sure to love this cake!
Good Kitty Cake
1 lb. ground chicken
1 lb. ground turkey
1 large can (14.75 oz.) pink salmon
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup cracker crumbs or matzo meal
3 8 oz. packages of cream cheese
1 package of nicely shaped, colorful cat treats
You will need 3 pie plates or layer cake pans to make this. Spray each with Pam.
Press the chicken into the bottom of the first pan, spreading out evenly; do the same with the turkey in the second pan.
Drain the salmon, pick out the bones, and remove the skin if you wish. (For a more festive look, you could use the red salmon.) Flake it into a small bowl, or chop it with your food processor. Mix in the beaten egg and the cracker crumbs. When thoroughly mixed, spread into the third pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Use a turkey baster to suck out the grease and dispose of it. Let the meat cool completely in the pans, cover them with plastic wrap, then refrigerate for at least an hour.
To assemble the Good Kitty Cake, you must first make the frosting. Unwrap the cream cheese, and microwave on high for about 30 seconds. Stir; if too firm, microwave a little longer, until soft enough to spread.
Place one disk of ground meat on a cake plate, and put some frosting on top. Put the salmon layer on top of it, and spread on some more frosting. Take the third disk out of the plan and place it on top of the other two; frost the top and sides of the cake.
Use the kitty treats to make an artistic, appealing design on the top of the cake.
Keep refrigerated until the "kitty party." It's very rich, so dole it out in small pieces.
