Giant John Paul II statute to be unveiled in Poland 
Workers are putting the finishing touches on what builders say is the world's tallest statue of the late Pope John Paul II before its unveiling in the pontiff's native Poland on Saturday.

The 13.8-meter (45.3-foot) white fibreglass figure will tower over the southern city of Czestochowa, home to Poland's most important Catholic pilgrimage site, Jasna Gora.
Funded by a private investor, the pontiff appears smiling and stretching his arms to the world.
Funder Leszek Lyson on Tuesday called the pope "a great and good man". He said: "His statue should make everyone stop and think about life".
Lyson is trying to get the statue into Guinness Book of Records as the world's tallest of Pope John Paul II, who died in 2005.
Poland already boasts it has the world's tallest statue of Jesus.
