Rush Limbaugh: Christian, Pro-Gun, Pro-Life Voters Embarrass The Republican Party

Rush Limbaugh said he thinks many of the Republican Party’s wealthy funders are embarrassed of the GOP’s pro-gun, anti-abortion Christian voting base.
He said, “The Republican Party is embarrassed by its own base.”

Limbaugh recalled a time he went to a party in the Hamptons — while there, he met with wealthy Republican donor who asked him, “What are you going to do about the Christians? Abortion! They’re killing us! Pro-lifers are killing us and they listen to you! You have got to tell these people to back off on guns!”
Limbaugh continued, “I’ve heard them say they get embarrassed to go to Republican conventions with pro-lifers also there. They accept the Democrat caricature of the Republican base: Southern, hayseed, hicks, pro-lifers, pickup truck-driving, gun rack in the back window people, chewing tobacco and going to church and talking about God all the time. But they really see them as a bunch of zealots when it comes to abortion.”

According to the radio host, many of these wealthy Republicans have wives who constantly “nag them” about pro-lifers.
Limbaugh concluded by saying that the new Republican support for immigrant “amnesty” is their way of ridding the party of its base — and replacing it with “a new group of people that would become their base if they just got rid of these… bitter clingers.”
