Add the vanilla, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Add eggs and mix well. Add 2 cups of the flour, then the chips, then the nuts - mix thoroughly. Add the remaining 3 cups of flour.Drop dough by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. (Chill for an hour if too sticky to handle.) Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, or until nicely browned.Cool on sheets for two minutes, then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.Makes 10-12 dozen.
