Add the egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice.Mix in the baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix in half the flour and half the milk; repeat.Drop by teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet; they should be small - about the size of a cherry. (They'll crumble if you make them too big)Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes. For topping:Heat the lemon juice just a bit, add the sugar, and stir. Place the topping next to the cooling rack, along with a pastry brush. When the cookies come out of the oven, remove them to the wire rack with a piece of foil placed under it. Quickly brush the topping onto the hot cookies; it will dry into a glaze.Makes about 4 dozen cookies. NOTE: if you prefer a less tart cookie, sprinkle them with confectioners sugar.
