Vanilla Crack
1 box salter soda crackers 2 sticks salted butter (8 oz.) 1 cup sugar 2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup salted nut pieces
Line a 10" X 15" pan with heavy-duty foil and spray with Pam.
Cover the pan completely with a single layer of crackers, salt side up. (Break to fit, if necessary.)
Combine the butter with the sugar & vanilla in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Boil for exactly 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Evenly pour the mixture over the soda crackers, then sprinkle the salted nuts over the top.
Slide the pan into the oven and bake for 10 minutes at 350. Remove pan and cool on wire rack.
When thoroughly cooled, break into random pieces.
Chocolate Crack
1 box graham crackers 2 sticks melted butter (8 oz.) 1 cup brown sugar, packed 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz. pkg.)
Line a 10" X 15" pan with heavy-duty foil and spray with Pam.
Cover the pan completely with a single layer of crackers. (Break to fit, if necessary.)
Combine the butter with the brown sugar in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Boil for exactly 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Evenly pour the mixture over the crackers.
Slide the pan into the oven and bake for 10 minutes at 350. Remove pan and cool on wire rack.
Remove pan from oven and sprinkle chips over the top. Give them a minute or two to melt, then spread them evenly with a heat-resistant spatula.
Put pan into refrigerator to harden chocolate, then peel the foil from the cookies and break into random-sized pieces.
