CHOCOLATE CHIP COFFEE CAKE
Topping-
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 c. flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. salt
1 stick cold butter, cubed
Mix together, and cut in butter to make crumbs. Set aside in refrigerator to keep cold.
Cake-
1 stick butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. mini chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts (or add more mini chips)
Cream together butter and sugar for a few minutes, add eggs and vanilla, beat well.
Mix flour, powder, soda and salt together. Add the dry mix alternatively with the sour cream into the creamed mixture, just until well blended, do not over work. Stir in the chocolate chips. Mix will be thick.
Pre-heat oven to 350. Grease a 9" pan.
Spoon half the batter into the pan, sprinkle with 1/3 topping mix and all the nuts. Spoon on the rest of the batter, carefully spread it over and to the edges of the pan. Put the remaining topping on.
Bake about 55 minutes, until a toothpick comes clean when inserted. Cool about 15 minutes.
