Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake
For the Batter:
1 stick of butter 1 cup of sugar 2 eggs 1 cup of sour cream 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups of flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda
For the Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Filling & Topping:
1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 cup chocolate chips
Cream butter & sugar until light; add eggs & beat until blended. Add sour cream and vanilla alternately with flour, baking powder and baking soda. In a separate bowl, make cinnamon mixture with sugar, cinnamon and chocolate chips, set aside.
Place half the batter in a 9 X 13 inch glass baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter. Cover with the rest of the batter. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon mixture over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until it tests done(toothpick inserted will come out clean).
If you don't want chocolate chips in this, make as directed, omitting chips, but before sprinkling on the cinnamon/sugar mix on the top, slip some thin freshly sliced apple or peach pieces in rows into the batter than sprinkle on the last of the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. Bake as usual.
