David Wilkerson's False Prophecies
The following are a collection of quotes from David Wilkerson's newsletters that indicate he has been giving false teachings and false prophecies. David Wilkerson claims to not be a prophet, yet he even says in his newsletters he was given a prophetic message from the Lord for us and he keeps giving prophecies. Regardless of whether he is a prophet or not, his prophecies are not coming true, as will be shown below.
How many false prophecies should a real prophet or teacher of the Word be allowed? Paul told the Thessalonians:
"For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit; but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men but God, who examines our hearts." (1 Thess. 2:3).
Please notice that Paul claimed that his teachings were not in error, or in an attempt to deceive or were they in any way impure. Here is another verse that condemns false prophets:
"If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has NOT spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." (Deut. 18:22)
And yet today's "prophets," and their followers claim that error is ok. It really makes you wonder which bible they are reading.
In the critiques below David Wilkerson's quotes are in bold
No more gospel Television Networks by 1999
From David Wilkerson's newsletter "In the Solomon Church" 12-19-94 (it can also be found at the following URL if you can read polish: www.tscpulpitseries.org/polish/ts941219.htm
"Right now I sense in my spirit that in less that 5 years there will be no more so-called gospel television networks. They will all fall into bankruptcy and absolute ruin.
Have all the gospel networks dissapeared from TV after 1999?
Have all the gospel networks fallen into bankruptcy and absolute ruin?
Was the "Spirit" speaking to him telling him the truth?
1,000 Fires burning in NY, Race Riots, Federal Troops, Tanks in the streets, churches closed, by 1993
From David Wilkerson's Newsletter Oct. 8, 2001 "A Prophetic Warning to New York City"where he quoted a prophecy from his Sept. 7, 1992 newletter
"I have had recurring visions of over 1,000 fires burning at one time here in New York city. I am convinced RACE RIOTS WILL SOON EXPLODE! New York City is right now a powder keg-ready to blow!...federal and State Welfare cutbacks will be the spark that ignites the fuse. NEXT YEAR, New York City could have over 100,000 angry men on the streets, enraged because they have been cut off from benefits....Federal troops will have to move in to restore order. New York City will have tanks running down its avenues....Churches will be closed for a season because it will be too dangerous to travel about. Fires will rage everywhere. "
David Wilkerson said this would happen the NEXT YEAR. 1992 + 1 = 1993
Were there 100,000 angry men on the streets in 1993?
Did the recent destruction that befell NY on Sept. 11, 2001, involve the WHOLE city?
Have race riots exploded in NY even after 2001?
Or has there been a resurgence of Love in NYC since Sept. 11, 2001?
Have federal troops had to move in to restore order because of welfare benefits being cut off?
Have Tanks run down the streets of NY city anytime after 1993?
Were all the Churches closed since 1993?
Was Wilkerson's church closed?
Are people still walking about NY city?
Did fires rage everywhere or just in the Twin Towers?
Did even one of the above predictions occur by 1993?
Prophesy for 1993 now means Sept. 11, 2001
"Calls and messages have flooded our ministry offices, asking, 'Was the terrorist attack on September 11, the calamity you were prophesying back in 1992?' No, not at all. What I saw coming will be much more severe. Indeed, if America rejects God's call to turn back to him, we'll face the same judgments Israel faced. And they will hit not only New York but every region in the country. Even the heartland won't be spared. The nation's economy will collapse, and violence will erupt. Fires will consume our cities, and tanks will rumble through the streets. "
Did David Wilkerson forget that in 1992 he said that this calamity would befall NY that VERY NEXT YEAR-1993?
Now he is claiming that it is still coming.
Did Wilkerson make a mistake or was it God who made the mistake?
Does God make mistakes?
False Prophecy - Inivitable Financial Crash in 2000
David Wilkerson's prophecy from his cover letter dated: May 1, 2000.
"For the last two years I have been crying aloud, warning all who would hear that America is receiving her last call and that judgment is at the door. I did not say this was the end of the nation, but the last call before a financial crash."
"I am writing this letter to you on Saturday, April 15, 2000. I have on my desk the headlines in yesterday's paper: "BLACK FRIDAY - BIGGEST ONE-DAY DROP IN HISTORY." The Dow fell 618 points - the Nasdaq fell 355. I do not know what is coming in the next sixty days. If the market bounces back, I can assure you it will be temporary. THE CRASH IS INEVITABLE - NOTHING CAN STOP IT."
David Wilkerson admits false prophecy of 5-01-00, due to market reaching record high by May 22, 2000 (7 days later).
From a cover letter dated May 22, 2000 when asked about his warning that the stock market was going to crash, when it didn't, Wilkerson states:
"In prayer, I have told the Lord I am ready at any time to confess I am wrong - that I must have spoken from my own fears or that I have spoken unadvisedly. Recently, when the market reached record highs, I wondered if those calling me a false prophet were right."
Please notice he calls himself a prophet here (he denied it in his previous cover letter). And yet a few sentences later, in regards to his error, he says,:
"No matter what others think, I cannot shake off the urgency of the Holy Spirit to warn God's people. . . . I hear God's still, small voice saying, "It is coming. It will happen suddenly. Forget the criticism -- warn the people."
So what we have in one sentence he refutes in another, i.e., previously he said, being as the stock marked did not fail he must have spoken from his own fears (and thus not from God) and thus he was in error. But a few sentences later he says it's still coming. How many other prophets sing this same tune with every false prophecy? (he admits other errors in this same newsletter re divorce and starting church homes).
Wilkerson admitted to his mistake this time.
Doesn't he claim to being lead by the Holy Spirit?
Was it God's spirit that led him astray?
Does the Holy Spirit lead believers astray?
What does scripture tells us about those who give false prophecies?
Here is another article by David Wilkerson, from his very own ministry, where the very first words state, "I bring you a prophetic word from the Lord.", i.e., he is speaking as a prophet.
source: www.tscpulpitseries.org/english/undated/tsrczion.html.
"If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has NOT spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." (Deut. 18:22)
CONCLUSION: David Wilkerson is a false Prophet
(there are many other false prophecies in David Wilkerson's newsletters--this is only a small sampling.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David Wilkerson is also a false teacher:
False Teachings about Revelation 18:10
In a Newsletter, dated Sept. 16, 2001 (also dated Oct 8, 01) "The Towers Have Fallen" Wilkerson stated the following re the Disaster in NY on Sept. 11, 2001:
"One network anchorman said this, and I quote him, 'Just think of it. Our two symbols of power and prosperity have been smitten in one hour.' "
"He didn't know he was quoting from Revelation 18:10, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.' "
Was the WHOLE city of New York destroyed Sept. 11, 2001?
Did what happened in NY City on Sept. 11, 2001 accurately portray Rev 18?
Did both Towers fall within one hour?
Does David Wilkerson understand Rev. 18?
God's last-day church better than Pentecost
From David Wilkerson's Newsletter 5-23-94, "In God's Vision for the Last Day Church"
"God's last-day church ...will be even greater than that [the first-century church,] ... mightier, stronger, and even GREATER revelation of Jesus. A greater unction from the Spirit than ever, GREATER EVEN THAN PENTECOST....As I see it, the gospel of Jesus Christ has not been fully preached in this generation!"
What does scripture say about about the preaching of the gospel?
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Mt 24:14)
Please notice there is no big gap where there is no gospel preached. and here we see that this gospel was everlasting:
"And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people" (Rev 14:6).
David Wilkerson is therefore saying that 2000 years worth of Christians have not been preaching the right Gospel in spite of Scripture declaring differently.
In the same newletter Wilkerson also promotes Latter Rain theology-two outpourings of the spirit--two pentecosts, the later one to precede the final harvest. He claims this latter rain will bring God's people to their knees. This is in spite of the fact that scripture promises apostasy instead of revival in the endtimes (2 Thess 2; Luke 18:8). This is part of what is known as the Manifest Sons of God (MSOG) movement.
Wilkerson claims he's not teaching Replacement Theology and then goes right ahead and says he believes in a NEW ISRAEL and while he admits this endtime outpouring was promised upon the House of David, he still attributes it to the Church, i.e., he is teaching Replacement Theology.
He even attributes the following scripture meant for the Jews to the Church, "and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him" (Zech 12:10). So right here proves he is INDEED teaching Replacement Theology within a few sentences of his saying that he's not teaching it.
More from the above newsletter:
"As Moses' reed swallowed up Pharoah's snakes, God's mighty deeds in these last days will swallow up all the devil's dark deeds. Satan's works will appear as nothing compared to God's incredible signs and wonders."
Wilkerson is preaching revival and a great harvest BEFORE Christ returns. Scripture indicates otherwise. There is no scriptural foundation for Revival in the Church age during the endtimes. Look up the word "Revival" in any concordance and you will see that whenever it is used in relation to the endtimes all such scriptures were meant for Israel, not the Church. The Church has been promised aspostasy instead. AFTER Christ returns THEN the devil will be cast away--and not before.
Wilkerson also refers to an "army full of faith" which is another MSOG keyword, i.e., referring to Joel's army.
"they [these 2nd Pentecost Christians] will be fearless against demons casting down great principalities and powers. They will be so powerful in prayer, they'll open entire nations for the gospel."
However, this army according to scripture is demonic--an army of LOCUSTS that destroys all that is good in the land. This is an army that God himself sends in JUDGEMENT upon the land. (Joel Chapters1-2) AFTER this army is destroyed, then God sends a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a great revival and Harvest (Joel 2:28-32).
Is this true that we are to be fearless against demons? Or are we to seek Christ's protection from them? Are more nations open to the gospel now or are more nations being taken over by the Muslim faith? So far the Mulsim faith controls over 30 nations on 3 continents and the number is growning yearly. We only need to watch the news to see which way this nation is heading as it regards the Muslim faith.
And scripture NOWHERE indicates that whole nations will believe in the Gospel--this is the message of the MSOG/Ecumenical movement--which also has no scriptural basis.
The Latter Rain and 2nd Pentecost teachings indicate Wilkerson is deep into MSOG (which means he is teaching another Christ, i.e., Christ can't come back [he is helpless] until they bring the world to it's knees). His Replacement Theology teachings mean he does not understand God's Plan for the Church vs Isreal and this will therefore confuse his understanding of the endtimes.
Therefore David Wilkerson is not only a false teacher he is also a false prophet which qualifies him for the following scripture:
"If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, 'Let us follow other gods' (gods you have not known) 'and let us worship them,' you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him" (Deuteronomy 13:1-4 NIV).
PS. I have most of Wilkerson's newsletters from 1994-1998 in hard copy. The others I found on his own web page. He only provides copies for the last 3 years online however--which is understandable when there are so many false prophecies in them.

David Wilkerson said this would happen the NEXT YEAR. 1992 + 1 = 1993
Were there 100,000 angry men on the streets in 1993?

Now he is claiming that it is still coming.
Did Wilkerson make a mistake or was it God who made the mistake?
Does God make mistakes?
False Prophecy - Inivitable Financial Crash in 2000
David Wilkerson's prophecy from his cover letter dated: May 1, 2000.
"For the last two years I have been crying aloud, warning all who would hear that America is receiving her last call and that judgment is at the door. I did not say this was the end of the nation, but the last call before a financial crash."
"I am writing this letter to you on Saturday, April 15, 2000. I have on my desk the headlines in yesterday's paper: "BLACK FRIDAY - BIGGEST ONE-DAY DROP IN HISTORY." THE CRASH IS INEVITABLE - NOTHING CAN STOP IT."
Wilkerson admitted to his mistake this time.
Doesn't he claim to being lead by the Holy Spirit?
Was it God's spirit that led him astray?
Does the Holy Spirit lead believers astray?
What does scripture tells us about those who give false prophecies?
Here is another article by David Wilkerson, from his very own ministry, where the very first words state, "I bring you a prophetic word from the Lord.", i.e., he is speaking as a prophet.

God's last-day church better than Pentecost

This is part of what is known as the Manifest Sons of God (MSOG) movement.
Wilkerson claims he's not teaching Replacement Theology and then goes right ahead and says he believes in a NEW ISRAEL and while he admits this endtime outpouring was promised upon the House of David, he still attributes it to the Church, i.e., he is teaching Replacement Theology.
He even attributes the following scripture meant for the Jews to the Church, "and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him" (Zech 12:10).
