It's funny how you can read passages in the Bible over and over and over again, and keep missing something important. For example, I had a dear friend (now with the Lord) who taught a women's Bible study. One day we were talking on the phone and I mentioned how you can't outgive God - for example, after Hannah dedicated her baby Samuel to Him, leaving him at the temple right after he was weaned, God gave her five more children! (1 Sam. 2:21) As familiar as my friend was with the Bible, she never noticed that and was amazed when she read it.
More recently, I was reading the story of Lot again, and how his wife turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back as Sodom was destroyed. Well, we know his two virgin daughters were saved, but he had other daughters, sons-in-law, and - presumably - grandchildren who were not! (Gen. 19:14) That's probably why Mrs. Lot looked back - she was concerned about her unsaved family. I don't know how many times I read that passage....but didn't catch that until the other day.
Here's an interesting thought: Noah was 500 years old when he begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Gen. 5:32) That would seem to imply that they were triplets; I never thought about that before.
