In yet another economic milestone for the Obama administration, food stamps are being used by a record 46.7 million people across the nation.
The aid program has doubled to $75.7 billion over the past four years, according to the US Department of Agriculture.
The number of New York recipients grew by 59,709, to 3,095,534, a 2 percent hike over a year ago. The state ranks fourth in spending at $453.4 million, behind only California, Texas and Florida.
