I love to cook. I love collecting almost anything kitchen related. I can't tell you how many platters and bowls there are in my kitchen, and I always have to stop myself from buying more... Do I really need one more bowl? Yes! hehe Anyway, my favorite kitchen gadget that I recently received for my birthday is the Kitchenaid Pasta Roller set. It has 3 different kinds of rollers, one for wide noodles like lasagna and ravioli, one for fettucini and one for spaghetti. So far I've made fettucini, but it was soooo much fun! And the pasta was delicious! I have a cookbook that tells you how to make almost every pasta known to man ;D, which was put out by Cook's Illustrated. They make the best cookbooks! I like to sit down and read cookbooks, and the ones made by Cook's Illustrated are great because they tell you about the process they went through to determine which recipe was best of all they tested, and which ingredients are best to use . I highly recommend them. Here's a link to the pasta one... www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Pasta-Noodles/dp/060980930X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1308792579&sr=1-1

I love cooking and baking too - and after pretty clothes, I think I like "kitchen toys" best! ;D That includes both little gadgets and small appliances. And cookbooks...I love cookbooks - I must have 500 or more! Every so often I'll go through them, looking for an idea for something to make, and every time I thank the Lord for eternal life...because I need it to try all the recipes I want to! ;D I don't know if you'd call it a "gadget," but I love my new George Foreman grill with 5 different plates. The non-stick coating on my old one (which I got new on eBay for $4) was starting to flake off, so I thought I'd replace it; I also wanted to get a waffle maker. I saw the George Foreman on QVC and was thinking of getting it since it was on EZ Pay, but then I saw it for even less on Amazon. Even so, it was $103, but....I had a credit of about $105 with Amazon from some textbooks that I sold to them, so I basically got the new grill FREE! I didn't use the old one often, but I'm finding I use this one almost every day. I makes the most moist, tender chicken breasts in 8 minutes. Hot dogs are done from frozen in less than five minutes. It's almost as fast as a microwave, but with better results. I'm still playing with steaks; I followed the recommended time for cooking them, but they come out too well done. And the waffle maker is wonderful! It makes two giant waffles, so I eat one and freeze the other one for later. It also has a baking tray, and you can make anything from pizza to cookies. It's well worth the price! My next "toy" is going to be a Yonanas machine. It has great reviews, and since I'm lactose intolerant, I think I'd really enjoy it.

I'd never heard of Yonanas, so I googled it. Now I want one! The GF grill sounds neat too, but my kitchen is small and I don't have the room to store it. As it is, my appliance "garage" is packed full. The Kitchenaid was pushing it. I bought it last fall on ebay, because I wanted a vintage one made by Hobart. I have to store it on the counter because there was no place it would fit.

Oh gosh ladies....I am going to have to google a Yonanas now too!!
I love to cook as well and I've got tons of cookbooks myself! I am even in the process of creating a Heritage cookbook for my daughter and all 3 daughter in laws....I papercarft and make cards and scrapbooks so it's been fun!
My favorite kitchen utensil......I have 2 fav's but I THINK my favorite is my stick blender! One of our favorite meals is the Applebee's Oriental Chicken Salad .....you can google it and find the copycat recipe. I use my stick blender to make the salad dressing for this salad and it's so dang easy!!
(I also LOVE my mini George Foreman)

Shann0, to my surprise I find myself using my George Foreman grill almost every day, so I found it a home sitting atop my microwave. That's the only thing I don't like much about my house - my kitchen is too small. I'd love to have a huge, gourmet kitchen, but that'll have to wait until I have my tropical mansion; when I bought this house I knew I couldn't have everything I wanted with the budget I had to work with. Since it's just me and I don't get to cook as often as I'd like to, a gourmet kitchen wasn't a priority - I needed lots of storage, a safe neighborhood for the kitties, and a yard where I could have a pool. Anyway, the reviews on Yonanas are excellent. They're going to be in Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond in a couple of weeks; since BBB always has those 20% off coupons you can save by getting it there - it's $50, plus S&H if you order from the company; at BBB it would be $40 with the coupon, no S&H. Also, if you decided you didn't like it, BBB has an excellent return policy.

I love our waffle maker! So easy to make fluffy, golden brown waffles everytime! Also - my husband bought me a new set of Kitchenaid knives for Christmas (along with their stainless steel pots and pans - I was in heaven!), and I love them! I never knew chopping could be so fun! I don't cook as much as I'd like too - but I'm a total sucker for kitchen gadgets. :-)

He is cute, but I just use the shells or my hand. They sure have some beautiful toilet seats there; I wish they'd fit mine, but I need an elongated one. BTW, you do not want to buy a soft toilet seat. If it gets a slit in it (and it will), it'll make rude noises every time you sit down!

Yeah, I don't use Peter, but when I saw how he worked I had to have him. It's much easier to me to use the shell. Soft toilet seats with slits are like whoopie cushions then? heheh

Yes; rather disconcerting if - the first time you hear it and don't realize what it is - you're in the house alone and there's no cat around! (Actually, my cats are of the "silent but deadly" variety - especially Whisper. How such a gorgeous creature can make such a nasty smell is beyond me!)

Yeah, microplanes rock...I have one for my feet! ;D Sasha, Yonanas looks like a really nifty "toy," especially for those of us who are lactose intolerant, but it's good for anyone who wants to eat healthier: yonanas.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1BTW, I also love bowls, serving pieces, dinnerware (I have 10 sets of dishes - and that's after giving a few sets to tornado victims!)...all I can say is, thank the Lord for eternal life! ;D

My dishwasher is broken. It just stopped working one day, then started to work properly again for a while after the power was out for over a week, and now it's not working again. If I ever get my tax check, I'll get it repaired...I hate washing dishes by hand - I always miss stuff. You know what else is a handy little gadget? My OXO measuring cups for liquid. They come in various sizes, and there's a sort of "tilted' thing inside so you can see the measurements while you're standing at the counter - you don't have to lift up the cup, so that it's then not quite even... I have a two cup one and a 4 oz. one. And, of course, I love some of my "As Seen on TV" gadgets that I listed in another thread. ;D

Last week, I picked up a FoodSaver Vaccuum Sealer on craigslist for 25 bucks. It is virtually brand new! I just tried it out for the first time, and let me just say it's awesome! No more freezer burn from using zip locks. Marinating will be a breeze. It even vaccuum seals jars, so wow! Quite a bargain. Will save me a ton of money. What's not to like?

Does it come with its own bags or can you use regular old ziplocks?

Well, I got the smaller OXO measuring cup at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, then found the larger one at Ross for a few dollars less than BBB. Which reminds me, Yonanas ought to be at BBB - I hear Target has it.
