The Scripture also mentions that it's "The Mother of Harlots." Virtually every false religion has originated out of Rome, including Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam, etc. None of them came out of NYC.

I think you are thinking correctly. I just see it a little more in America than in Rome. I could be wrong, and i've always thought it was rome rather than America....but i just see way too many parallels. The old testament talks quite a bit about mystery babylon, simply calling it babylon or the child of babylon etc. The information we are given leads me to believe that it is much more likely to be America. I can see Rome being a possibility...just not as likely.
