France: Plan for partial blackouts from 2023 in 60% of the country!
Where the problem lies – The blackout plan
07/12/2022 - 21:43 in France
Voluntary partial blackouts are increasingly likely in France in the early months of 2023, with the country's government saying it will depend on consumption and the weather.
In particular, the possibility of partial blackouts has almost monopolized the interest of public opinion in France, and the government states that this will depend on the determination of the population to show restraint in relation to the consumption of electricity, as well as whether and by how much this winter will be "hard" in terms of temperatures.
In fact, Emmanuel Macron stated in his televised interview that no interruptions in the supply of electricity will be required "if we all implement the plan to reduce our consumption by 10% last year".
Where the problem lies – The blackout plan
The root of the problem lies in the fact that of the 56 reactors that exist in France for the production of nuclear energy, 20 are currently in the maintenance phase and no more than six are expected to be activated by the end of the year.
In the event that the French authorities consider at the beginning of 2023 that it is necessary to intermittently interrupt the electricity supply, these will take place between 8:00 and 13:00 and between 18:00 and 20:00 French time.
They will concern 60% of the country and in particular the supply lines of the network that do not supply electricity to priority facilities, such as hospitals, schools, etc.
