Sometimes I wonder, just who am I?
Today Arlene, who has been my email
confidante for just over 6 years, asked me to
introduce myself.
Being a naturally private person, who barely
tells anyone anything going on, but today,
lo and behold, I actually confessed some
personal data to another cat rescuer, so.....
I am now on a roll.
I am a displaced Californian, living reluctantly
in Oregon, where I came 25 years ago to escape
the traffic and development of San Diego County,
which when I moved there was almost like a
village.
But, strangely enough, everytime I move to a small
town, village, within weeks, sometimes a few months,
there is an influx of people from all over the country.
So, in the process, I have destroyed 4 towns, one village,
and one state.
If anyone has a ghost town that needs to be re-born,
let me know, I will move there, and you will have a
metropolis within a year, I promise!!
Having said that, the only interesting things about my
life and times, is that I am a retired school teacher,
a retired church secretary, an ex-WAF (Air Force) and
in my first 17- years- old job, I was a telephone operator,
long before computers.
Here in Oregon I have found that animals are neglected
on a rampant scale, abandoned, and in dire straits.
Law enforcement has rules and regulations set by
Oregon Legislature, but they seem to lack the training
for evaluation of abuse and neglect. Backward state.
I rescue cats along with maybe 4 other people in this
metropolis, that used to be a small town. Since moving
here the number rescued by just me, has become close
to 600 cats.
It is a never-ending battle and education does not
seem to penetrate the minds of those who leave their pets
behind when they move.
My hope is to move back to California, swim in a pool,
and live in a town where pets are precious to owners.
I became a born-again Christian in 1975, though I was always
a Christian, however not yet baptized in Mission Bay.
That is a whole 'washing of the sins' experience,
and is a life-long symbol of being a 'new creature
in Christ.' I feel that is an important step to
salvation.
It is wonderful to see the posts on this board and to
watch the membership growing each month.
Arlene and I have never met, but our common interest
is to save animals and to be with the Lord one day,
soon.
The way it is going out there in the world, that DAY
is not far down the road.
This monologue is my voice in the wilderness...
