TSA Being the TSA: Humiliates Marine Who Lost Both Legs to IED

The Transportation Security Agency seems more interested in insulting Americans than doing the job of providing airport security. The latest sensational story regarding the agency is ‘typical TSA‘ and it’s disgusting.
The Daily Caller reports that a marine who lost both legs to an IED was accosted by the TSA and subjected to extraordinary search procedures.
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-California)… [complained] to TSA Administrator John Pistole, Hunter described the Marine as being “humiliated” by the TSA’s actions, based on accounts of the incident last week in Phoenix, Arizona.
“The individual escorting this Marine asked the TSA officer which of the two checkpoints to enter and received the response, ‘either one,’ only to be told moments later they should have entered a different way. As a result, a TSA officer asked the Marine to stand and walk to an alternate area, despite the fact that he physically could not stand or walk on his own,” Hunter explained in his letter.
“With numerous TSA officers sitting and unwilling to assist, an officer then made him remove his legs, then put them back on,” Hunter continued, “only to advance to a secondary screening location where he was asked again to stand, with extraordinary difficulty, while his wheelchair was examined for explosives.”
Allowing airport security to do basic police work focusing on likely terrorists would solve a lot of such problems. When it comes to serial killers, no one complains when white males between the ages of 25-34 are the police’s prime suspects. Why? Because it’s true. Airport security should extend the same thinking to would-be terrorists.
Let’s stop humiliating little girls, old ladies and returning veterans who greatly sacrifice for our liberty. (That is, what’s left of it.) The very least we can do is treat all citizens with respect and abide by the police standard of ‘probable cause’ when it comes to airport security.
Even better, citizens should support Rand Paul’s effort to privatize airport security and send the TSA back to the ash-heap of history where it belongs. Until then, prepare to be groped and mocked everytime you go to the airport, like the brave patriot who returned from war missing limbs.
