3 Warning Signs That a Church Is Actually a Cult

There are three things to consider, the first being "what do they believe about the Bible? Is it alone the Word of God (as Christians affirm) — or do they add to it or claim they alone have translated it correctly?"
"Second, what do they believe about Jesus? Is He alone the divine Son of God, sent from Heaven to save us from our sins? Or do they deny this, or claim we must work to save ourselves?"
"Third, what do they believe about other Christians? Do they claim that they, and they alone, have the truth — or do they rejoice that God is also at work elsewhere?"
Jesus warned us about deception 4X as much as He did anything else, and one can't be too careful in these Last Days. Don't trust someone just because they quote Scripture - even Satan does that. And just because someone says they're a Christian, don't automatically believe them - wait until you can check the fruit of their repentance. In my own experience, the nastiest, ugliest, most hurtful, most deceitful and dishonest people I've ever met have all claimed to be "Christians!" Sure we all have bad days, and we all trip and fall into sin on occasion, but someone who makes sin their lifestyle and wallows in it most assuredly is not a Christian.
Case in point: I had a handyman who wore Christian shirts, a big cross around his neck, and had Christian bumper stickers on his truck. Even knowing that I'm a disabled widow struggling to get by, he stole a car from me. I made the mistake of trusting him when he begged me to let him pay off a car I was selling. He made a partial payment...then disappeared.
Please be careful - be as wise as serpents, and as harmless as doves!
OK, I went off on a little tangent, but please heed the gist of this message: Trust NO ONE - be it a church or just a single person - until they've proven to be the real deal!
