Fears of World War 3 have dramatically escalated after lame-duck President Joe Biden reported greenlit orders for Ukraine to fire American-made long-range missiles deep into Russia.
The move has provoked a fierce response from the Kremlin as many had hoped President Donald Trump’s reelection would soon bring peace to the Ukraine-Russia war.
Moscow has accused the outgoing Biden administration of adding fuel to the fire and seeking to escalate the conflict in Ukraine.
Responding to reports that Biden gave the green light to fire the missiles into Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov issued a chilling warning.
Peskov warns that Biden’s move has now ushered in a new round of tension and deepened America’s involvement in the war.
He noted that Biden’s decision has added “fuel to the fire.”
“It is obvious that the outgoing administration in Washington intends to take steps and they have been talking about this, to continue adding fuel to the fire and provoking further escalation of tensions around this conflict,” Peskov said.
According to the Russian TASS news agency, Peskov said Moscow sees the possibility of Western specialist troops launching long-range strikes against it as the main danger.
“The fact is that these strikes are not carried out by Ukraine, these strikes are carried out by those countries that give permission, because targeting and other maintenance is not done by Ukrainian servicemen, it is done by military specialists from these very Western countries,” he is reported to have said.
He warned that “this is the danger and provocation of this situation.”
Biden authorized Ukraine’s use of U.S. Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS).
The missiles have a range of up to 190 miles.
This policy shift now means Ukraine can now use the U.S.-supplied missiles inside Russia.
The move has significantly escalated the conflict just two months before Trump will be sworn in as president.
The Biden admin is understood to be concerned about Trump’s promise to limit support for Ukraine and end the war.
Several prominent figures, including Donald Trump Jr., have publicly criticized the move, warning that Biden risks starting World War Three.
In a post on X, Trump Jr. noted:
“The military-industrial complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives.
“Gotta lock in those $Trillions.
“Life be damned!!! Imbeciles!”
Entrepreneur David Sacks also weighed in, posting on his account:
“President Trump won a clear mandate to end the war in Ukraine.
“So what does Biden do in his final two months in office?
“Massively escalate it.
“Is his goal to hand Trump the worst situation possible?”
This decision comes after Russia sent 50,000 troops to Kursk where Kyiv launched a counteroffensive this past summer.
North Korean troops have also been deployed to help Russia.
After Biden gave the order to use the missiles, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said:
“Today, there’s a lot of talk in the media about us receiving permission for respective actions.
“But strikes are not carried out with words.
“Such things are not announced.
“Missiles will speak for themselves.
“They certainly will.”
