Palin, Rove, Cruz on Obamacare: An 'Epic Battle' Ahead

Republicans are united in their distaste of Obamacare, but their opposing ideas of how to stop it have them battling it out on Capitol Hill and on the talk show circuit.
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, is pushing an effort to defund President Barack Obama's signature health care law with a threat to shut down the government.
Obamacare "was sold on a passel of lies," Republican strategist Karl Rove said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity." Still, he asked, "How are we going to get 51 votes in the Senate to agree to this proposal?" Only 45 Republicans hold seats in the Senate.
Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin told Hannity that Republicans who oppose Lee's plan are just trying to ingratiate themselves to the "lapdog media."
Rove disputed that, saying the difference of opinion is simply one of tactics, and that he's seen no game plan for what Lee and others plan to do if the government is defunded and members of the military stop getting paychecks.
"If the government shuts down, who's going to get blamed for this?" Rove asked. Republicans, he said, got blamed for the 1995 shutdown when a Democrat was president and in 1991 when a Republican was president.
"We always get blamed for it," Rove said.
Rove compared his argument to Civil War strategies that succeeded only after new tactics were tried. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a supporter of Lee's plan wasn't converted.
"You lose 100 percent of the battles that you begin by surrendering," he told Hannity.
Obamacare is kicking in on January 1, and he said Democrats hope to get as many people "hooked" as possible so that, like other entitlements, it can never be repealed.
"This becomes an epic battle," Cruz said. "If we don't fight it now we never can."
