Rather than answer the person directly via PM, I'm posting a reply for everyone to see in case others have the same question.
The new board format has a lot of cool features. For example, when you post a link, instead of having the URL showing you can choose to have just "Link," "See video here," or whatever. (Personally, I think it looks a lot nicer!)
Here's how to post a link:
After you've posted the body of the message, click on the little blue globe with the piece of paper that's in the list of icons at the top of the post. You'll get a little pop-up box that says "create link." The first line says....link. You can choose to just leave that, or change the words to something you like that's also appropriate. (For instance, "Don't miss the comments here!" or whatever.)
The second box is for the URL. Someone has said that their links are coming up as "can't be found." The problem is this: that box already has "http://" in it; if you cut and pasted the URL from the address bar, it also has "http://" in it, and duplicating it will make your link not work. All you have to do is get rid of the "http://" that's already in the box, then paste your URL. Same thing goes for posting pictures. Make sure you click the "create link" button when you're through.
Now, if you go to your profile, then choose "edit profile," then "settings," you can choose a posting default of "preview," which will let you see immediately if your pictures and videos are posting correctly. This is also where you choose your background, and where you can either select an avatar from those offered, upload your own, or - with the new format - you can create an avatar that sort of looks like you.
Regarding appropriate avatars, just use common sense as to what's appropriate for a Christian board. Fun avatars are fine, but we do not permit "pictures" of Jesus (none of them look like Him), nor things like a crucifix with a dead body on it (a cross is OK).
I'm still learning about a lot of the new features myself, so feel free to play around and have fun!
