I just got back from seeing Soul Surfer, which some of my friends from a secular board I participate it raved about. It's set in Hawaii, which of course made me homesick right from the start, and even more so when I saw that one of the beginning scenes was at a Calvary Chapel that met on the beach - not the same one I went to, but very much like it. The movie is based upon the true story of a young Christian girl of about 16 who lived to surf and became the victim of a shark attack. I won't tell you any more than that, but it's totally about faith and hope and love and very inspirational - definitely worth seeing! What surprised me was all the Scripture quoted and the pro-Christian slant, since this is a secular movie; for once Christians weren't made to look like haters or nuts. I saw it at the dollar movie, which means if it's not out on DVD yet, it soon will be; check Netflix. Don't miss this one!
