Satanic Temple Seeks to Place ‘Homage to Satan’ Near Ten Commandments Monument OKLAHOMA CITY – A New York-based Satanist organization has offered to erect a public ‘homage to Satan’ near a Ten Commandments monument on the premises of the Oklahoma capitol building. The Satanic Temple issued a news release about the matter this week, outlining that they believe that it may resolve the dispute over the monument, which is currently the subject of a federal lawsuit. As previously reported, the monument at issue was proposed and paid for in 2009 by Republican Representative Mike Ritze, and was soon after approved by the largely Republican-run state legislature. “[T]he Ten Commandments are an important component of the foundation of the laws and legal system of the United States of America and of the State of Oklahoma,” the bill authorizing the monument acknowledged. “[T]he courts of the United States of America and of various states frequently cite the Ten Commandments in published decisions, and acknowledgements of the role played by the Ten Commandments in our nation’s heritage are common throughout America.” read more: christiannews.net/2013/12/06/satanic-temple-seeks-to-place-homage-to-satan-near-ten-commandments-monument/

Okay so let me get this straight: the ACLU objects to the Ten Commandments being there but it's okay if other 'religious' groups place their repulsive blasphemousy in the same area? I guess as long as it's not the Christian God then that would be okay... From where I stand, that looks remarkably like HYPERCRICY.

The 10 C's have been an integral part of the foundation of our country, but no other religions (except possibly Judaism) have been. So I see no justification for erecting monuments for all religions, as they have no historical claims here.

Update on this: Atheists smug as Hindus join Satanists to demand display at Oklahoma Statehouse First came the Christians, then the Satanists. And now come the Hindus — the latest group to fight for First Amendment freedoms and demand equal display access at Oklahoma’s Capitol. And the ensuing political frenzy is leaving some atheists laughing, calling the quandary “beautiful.” The issue started when state Rep. Mike Ritze donated $10,000 and raised a matching $10,000 in private funds to put up a 7-foot-tall monument of the Ten Commandments in November on the Capitol grounds, Raw Story reported. The American Civil Liberties Union sued to have the monument taken down, while members of a Satanist group, with headquarters in New York, petitioned for their own display, right next to the Judeo-Christian monument. The proposal from the Satanists outraged some lawmakers, with one saying that “this is a faith-based nation and a faith-based state,” Raw Story reported. So now a Hindu group joined the fray, saying it wanted to erect its own display to further education about the world’s fourth-most-popular faith. “If the Oklahoma State Capitol was open to different monuments, we would love to have a statue of Lord Hanuman, who was greatly revered and worshipped and known for incredibly strength and was perfect grammarian,” said Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, in Raw Story.
