and also get to know each other a little better...
I thought we'd list our favorites, such as favorite secular song, favorite Christian song, favorite hymn, favorite Christmas song, favorite movie, favorite book and so on and so forth... you can suggest your own list. And also, it doesn't have to be just one favorite you can list as many as you like, I'm not picky.
Okay, I will start!
First up: What is your favorite secular song (or songs)?
Mine are (in no particular order):
Everybody Hurts - R. E. M. Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn Every Move That You Make - The Police
I have more but that's just to get us started...
Philippians 3:20-21 “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”
My favorites depend on my mood. Since the show the Sing-off a couple years ago, I've been listening to acappella, and my fav group is Pentatonix. I also like progressive rock and jazz.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
Hmmm... interesting! It depends on my mood too and right now I'm in an '80's somber mood (can you tell?) Last week was progressive classical/new age week.
Progressive rock, what is that exactly?

Too many to list one favorite, but....
Probably my top fave is Let it Be Me. I always wanted that for my wedding song; we forgot to play the music at my so-called wedding, and I still keep hoping to meet Mr. Right... (At least I didn't waste the song!)
I also love Silence is Golden (Four Seasons or Hollies), Nights in White Satin, Longer (Dan Fogelberg), And I Love You So (Elvis), Burning All My Bridges (Mark Houston).
Anything by Hapa, The Brothers Cazimero, or Brudda Iz (all contemporary Hawaiian), pretty much anything by Elvis (although I prefer the ballad type songs), Enya, The Four Seasons, Brooklyn Bridge, Jay & The Americans.
They sure don't write songs like they used to - when I was growing up they were about love and marriage, cherishing someone, and loving them for eternity; now it's, "I forgot your name and don't care what it is but let's ----."
As for genres, Contemporary Hawaiian, Classic Rock, and Classical are the ones I love most.

Progressive rock is more instrumental and is often a blend of rock with jazz, metal, or even classical. The band Yes was considered an early "prog" band, also Emmerson, Lake, and Palmer, Gentle Giant, etc. They're not as well known and didn't get a lot of play on the radio stations because they weren't mainstream enough.

I agree, they sure don't make them like they used to. I can't believe some of the stuff my grandaughter listens to...

I LOVE Yes! Especially Roundabout! Also love Emmerson Lake and Palmer especially From the Beginning... we have the same taste it seems.

Arlene, I like that song too but I've never heard of the Tremelos though. Frankie Valli and the Four Season, wow now that brings back memories of me as a kid during the '60's.

Gosh this thread is taking me down memory lane....
