Museum security camera sees ancient statue move on its own

An ancient Egyptian statue can by seen moving in astonishing security camera footage

ENGLAND (INTELLIHUB) — An ancient statue at the the Manchester Museum in England has mysteriously started spinning inside of its closed display case. The statue is from ancient Egypt and was made as an offering to Osiris, the Egyptian God of death.
The statue has been enclosed at the same museum for over 80 years, since it was found in a mummy’s tomb.
Its current caretaker, Campbell Price, was the first person to notice the strange phenomenon, and says he first realized that it was moving because he kept on having to put it back into place every morning when he returned to the museum.
He then watched a time lapse of the security camera footage and could see that it was spinning itself in a complete circle.
“In Ancient Egypt they believed that if the mummy is destroyed then the statuette can act as an alternative vessel for the spirit,” Price told the Manchester Evening News. “Maybe that is what is causing the movement.”
Price did admit that skeptics have a theory of their own, as expected.
“Physicist Brian Cox thinks it’s ‘differential friction,’” Price told The Daily Mail, referring to the process by which two surfaces — in this case the statue’s stone and the glass shelf, “cause a subtle vibration which is making the statuette turn.”
Cox believes foot traffic or vibrations from the street outside are causing the mysterious movement, but Price refutes that theory. “It has been on those surfaces since we have had it and it has never moved before,” he said.
Months later an engineer named Steve Gosling did a series of tests and concluded that it was in fact vibrations from a nearby street which were causing the statue to turn. However, some are not convinced. Decide for yourself.
