They're so precious!
Put An Abused Fluffy Chicken With An Abandoned Deformed Puppy… And You Get This.
February 19, 2014 Stories
An employee at the Duluth Animal Hospital brought together two very different animals that were both rescued from disastrous situations. One was a chicken and the other a two-legged Chihuahua. Alicia Williams was the adoptive mother to both and thought it was worth trying to introduce the animals to each other so they could have some companionship. Little did she know, the two unique rescues would hit it off.
Penny the chicken was rescued by Alicia when she was only 9 weeks old. She was being experimented on and in terrible condition.

Penny started to get lonely at Alicia's home, which is why the vet tech began bringing her into work with her. She was an instant hit with the staff.

Then came Roo. Roo was only 7 weeks old when he was found abandoned in a ditch.

He was born deformed and cruelly tossed out on a cold winter night.

Once he was old enough, the animal hospital donated money to get him a wheeled cart.

Now, he is always on the go.

Not only that, but Penny loves him.

They became the best of friends. Penny plays with Roo's toys and they follow each other around.

This odd couple is so lucky that they found each other.

It's hard not to fall in love with this animal couple. Not only were they both saved from terrible conditions...

But they are just the cutest little guys.

Penny and Roo have a bright future together with Alicia and all of their other friends at the Duluth Animal Hospital. Luckily, Alicia was big-hearted enough to take in animals that were imperfect and treated badly by others.
If you ever come across animals that are in need of help, make sure to talk to your local veterinarian on how to care for them. Even Alicia had to seek help with how to raise Penny the chicken, even though she was experienced with raising parrots.
