While I have no doubt that some dreams and visions are of God (I've had two visions myself in my lifetime), the fact is, the vast majority are not. I see a lot of so-called dreams and visions on other boards that are downright ridiculous and obviously either out of the person's own imagination or from a familiar spirit; some of the "dreams and visions" these people have are contrary to each other, and God is not the author of confusion! I'm trying to maintain a quality board with intelligent discussions that have their foundation in the Word of God. Many people who claim their dreams and visions are from God quote Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17 as "proof" that their dreams and visions are from God. Actually, those verses have nothing to do with the Church; they pertain to the Jews during the Tribulation. These people are simply acting out of pride. Satan masquerades as an angel of light, and there are people out there who are having more dreams and visions than Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel combined! As for even speculating on the date of the rapture, sorry (well, not really)...that's divination, and it's not permitted. Jesus said NO MAN would know the day or the hour. PERIOD. Mike Hoggard did an outstanding teaching on this subject, called "The Forbidden Practices." He explains the issues far more eloquently than I could; I suggest you listen to it - especially if you're caught up in this sort of thing, as you may be playing with fire: There aren't a lot of rules here, so you have plenty of latitude....but the few rules will be enforced. I'd rather err on the side of caution and please the Lord than permit anything that He would find offensive and against His commands.

I agree, Arlene. Too many wacky 'dreams and visions' out there already clogging up the information highway, we sure the heck don't need any more of them.

The only time I'll accept "I had a dream" on this forum is if the poster is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! ;D

So I had a dream last night...that my wife had our baby...and my mom dressed him up like a girl. So I took my baby away from my mom and told her she's not allowed to see him anymore. Then i woke up.

^^^LOL! yeah, i guess i should behave then. BTW: I love what Donald Stamps said. He was an assembly of God preacher, and wrote the notes for the life in the spirit study bible. He said that people are leaving the word for feeling and desire. They want their dreams and visions to be real, so they ignore the word of God. I've had visions before...but never anything that i felt was for anyone else to really know. I had one dream that just seemed weird to me once, and so i shared it with people. But otherwise....not really that into that stuff. Besides, i have the weirdest dreams...no one wants to hear that stuff.

I just wanted to update this after hearing Dr. DeYoung speak about it - he explained the current phenomenon of dreams & visions very well. Apparently there are people who are adhering to a post-modern prophetic paradigm. As with all post-modernism, there is no absolute truth, which includes the Bible, so it's OK to add to it via so-called dreams, visions, prophecies, etc. In reality and ABSOLUTE TRUTH, the Canon is closed...there are no new revelations to the church from God, apart from His Word, the Holy Bible. If you read the "Here's Your Sign" thread, you'll see that there are many people are are deceived, to their own detriment. They claim to have dreams, signs, visions, prophecies, etc. from "god," and even so-called "confirmations" that the "holy spirit" is telling them the truth. None of them seems to have noticed that their dreams do not come to fruition, their prophecies often turn out to be false (and often conflict with each others'), and as for their "visions" - well, they're consorting with demons and are too dumb to realize it. One woman - who has a dream from "god" almost every night (and sometimes more than one) - claims that "Jesus" appears to her in her kitchen! She's also said that the "holy spirit" told her that it's OK for prophecies to be wrong after the New Testament, because "people are just learning to be prophets." Sorry - that doesn't fly: true prophecies from God are never wrong; these people are following a false Jesus and a false Gospel, and are in all likelihood hell-bound if they don't seek the truth - even though they're looking for the rapture. Does God speak to people today? I don't believe He does in an audible voice, but I do believe (and know from experience) that the Holy Spirit can enlighten our understanding when we study the Bible, and yes, sometimes we'll be "nudged" to do something or go someplace, or even have an insight as to a problem we've been seeking a solution to, but audible voices and "thus saith the Lord" (apart from the Word) aren't for the Church as a whole.
