URGENT: Top U.S. Muslim Leader Is Pushing for Something That Could End America as We Know It
Sheikh Hamza Yusuf was named the most influential Muslim-American and the 35th most influential Muslim in the world by this year’s “The Muslim 500.”
Often described as a moderate, Yusuf is a leading Islam authority in America and is the president of Zaytuna College — a school in California with extremists on its faculty.
Unfortunately, Yusuf also endorses Shariah law, which is inherently contradictory to the U.S. Constitution.
Yusuf and 17 other Muslim leaders in America were hailed for adding their signatures to an open letter to the Islamic State that condemned their tactics and rebutted their theology. However, the same letter openly endorses Shariah law, including the “hudud” punishments for what it considers more serious crimes — including theft, adultery, and the consumption of alcohol.
“Hudud punishments are fixed in the Qu’ran and Hadith and are unquestionably obligatory in Islamic Law,” point 16 of the letter states, according to information cited by Young Conservatives.

Many, but not all, Islamic scholars believe that apostasy is a “hudud” violation of Shariah, and that Muslims who renounce Islam or convert to another religion should be executed. That or any punishment for the free exercise of an individual’s religious conscience would be impossible to reconcile with the First Amendment, never mind the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment contained in the Eighth.
Muslim scholars will have to find a way to reconcile their beliefs with the American Constitution if they are to be valued citizens — which is just one more evidence that America is not, as President Obama has claimed, a Muslim nation, but a Christian one.
Please share this article on Twitter and Facebook if you agree that it is not possible for a Muslim to advocate for Shariah law as a good American.
