PepsiCo moves forward with aborted fetal cell sweetener
Remember the advertisement for the credit card company on TV that asks the question “What’s in you’re wallet”? Well, now we must ask, just what is in the soft drinks that you and your kids consume? Fructose syrup, some other artificial sweeteners made of genetically manipulated mold i.e. Sweet-N-Low, and yet others are even more beyond belief than that.
Yes, PepsiCo has gone off the deep end once again. This time they are planning on using artificial sweeteners that are manufactured from cells of aborted babies! Yes, you did read that correctly.
In August 2010, PepsiCo entered into a 4 year agreement with Senomyx for the development of artificial high-potency sweeteners for PepsiCo beverages by using aborted fetal cell line HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney) for the research and development of flavor enhancers for their beverages.
When the pro-life group “Children of God for Life” wrote both companies requesting they use one of several non-objectionable, viable cell lines listed in their patents, Senomyx did not respond. PepsiCo did reply however - that this research would produce "great tasting, lower-calorie beverages." Meanwhile, letters sent to all PepsiCo Board Members and Senior Management, have gone unanswered according to the group.

So the pro-life group started a boycott and Appalled by the cavalier response, Children of God for Life launched a massive boycott joined by over two dozen other pro-life organizations. The boycott now includes supporters from Australia, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Poland and the UK.
One 12 year old Florida boy who learned of PepsiCo's research from his mom's pro-life news reports was upset enough to take action himself. At a 40 Days for Life kickoff, Gene spoke passionately to the audience.
"When I found out about this, I was sick to my stomach," he said. "I decided I wouldn't let this happen so I came up with a way to boycott Pepsi products called United Schools for Life. This program will attempt to remove all Pepsi products from the schools in our diocese."
Ironically, PepsiCo's own Code of Conduct boasts that they "deal with customers, suppliers, the public and our competitors in an ethical and appropriate manner" the group says according to their press release, but apparently, that is not the way PepsiCo really thinks and believes.
