The Rise And Fall Of Christianity In America

In Gibbon's "Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" (1776-88), he marked out five certain attributes regarding the fall of Rome:

(1) An increasing love of show and luxury (affluence)
(2) A widening gap between the very rich and the very poor
(3) An obsession with sex
(4) Freakishness in the arts
(5) An increased desire for people to live off of the state

There can be no doubt today that America possess every single one of these attributes today. From the constant show of luxury driven commercials to the obsession of the sexually taboo, America is in the grips of wickedness that rivals ancient history.

Essentially what we have seen in America is the eradication of distinctions regarding race, sex, gender, and truth by and through the systematic work of amalgamation through relativistic notions of truth driven by the humanistic, Marxist, and ultimately demonic agenda. From the civil rights act, which began to impede upon private businesses, to the recent immoral rulings from the Supreme Court regarding Sodomites, America has become a "free for all" in respect to the wicked. Christians are not "free" to preach from the pulpits regarding Sodomy without being labeled "homophobes" and those that stand against the rise of "feminism" are labeled "misogynists."

God's Law has no place in our schools, our communities, our courts, and even in our Churches. The "people" here despise any reference to God's Law while so called "Christians" parade around the misunderstanding of the Scripture "not under law but under grace" while embracing every sort of wicked act this culture can muster together.

Other genuine and yet immature Christians refrain from standing up for the truth in their jobs and in social gatherings afraid to be labeled "haters" while constantly being chased away and silenced with the misuse of the Scripture "judge not." Lawlessness has spread so far and deep as to not only produce Sodomite sympathizers but also has catapulted openly "gay and lesbian" Pastors to the pulpit with a round of applause; a most certain "abomination of desolation" if there has ever been one.

The nature of "truth" has now been reduced to the simple quip of "if that's what you believe, then it true for you, but not for me," while also producing the hypocritical notion of "tolerance" which is anything but. To even mention the name of Jesus Christ today will immediately set friends at odds and family members against each other and divide Churches instantly on the issues of our day.

False teachers now run almost every single Christian network there is on television and via the Internet. One has to actually dig deep and literally go underground to find any sort of Pastor that is teaching the truth and has remained orthodox.

Children are being taught to be "open minded" regarding sexuality in schools while Parents are threatened with abuse if they were to physically discipline their children. Women are celebrating feminism and independence from men while men are becoming cowards and stupefied through the entertainment industry. The family unit no longer has a traditional and moral definition. Single women, divorced with kids, are now leading men in churches while men take a backseat in leadership and become effeminate in their roles as fathers or husbands.

Christians are more likely to attack each other rather than standing together for truth on these issues while gossiping, slander, and character assassinations have been fortified as the weapon of choice in winning the argument.

The Republican party has gone the way of the cultural wind while other Christians have become staunch "statists" in support of illegal U.S. wars fought abroad while supporting lawless and abusive cops here domestically. The U.S. Constitution has become the illegitimate Bible for Christians regarding the state, while God's Civil law is dismissed as old fashioned.

God has been reduced to a mere Santa Clause that only loves while Christians put their head in the sand regarding their society. Rather than displaying the Holy God of Scripture and teaching obedience and repentance, many today have packed up shop and stay at home while waiting for the return of Jesus rather than making disciples of nations which we have been commanded to do.

One would be hard-pressed to NOT find the abominations of the Scripture within America today.

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. - 2 Timothy 3:2-5

But not only are we NOT avoiding such people, we are integrating and inviting them into all areas of our society.

"Scientism" has become the religion of the "intelligent fools" while Christians reject the Bible as being inerrant and infallible while constantly adjusting to their wicked culture. The fairy tale of evolution is embraced while the creation account is mocked by atheists and cowardly fake Christians alike.

Pastors are afraid to stand up, Christians are afraid to speak up, and the wicked are set on fire with boldness.

What are we to do? I'm glad you asked. Here are only a few things but Biblical things we can and must do:

1 - Rejoice. Yes. I said rejoice. Why? Because God is causing the fake Christians to merge together in a historic and revealing way, leaving the true Christians to recognize each other and their true King Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful thing to be able to see false teachers reaching out to other false teachers in hopes to solidify their wickedness. They become more easy to spot and require less discernment when merged together.

The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked. - Psalms 58:10

After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just;
for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

2 - Pray. Pray for what exactly? Pray for God's judgment against the wicked. Folks, it is past time to be praying for the wicked and high time to be praying against them. I am not suggesting that individuals will be neglected by God's grace but I am suggesting that there comes a time when the enemies of God are so full of hatred that there is nothing left except to pray for God's justice upon a culture.

Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. - Psalm 5:10

3 - Be Bold. Look no further than Jesus Christ himself who stood up, not only to the "religious liberals" of His time, but also take note of John The Baptist, who publicly spoke out against sexual immorality regarding Herod.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. - Proverbs 28:1

4 - Defend The Faith. We are commanded to defend the faith and to give a reason for the hope in which we believe. While many Christians in this culture shy away from "debate" thinking it is unfruitful, we must remember that it is through preaching the Gospel and shutting up the mouths of the naysayers that God works in bringing salvation to the wicked.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. - Jude 1:3

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. - 1 Peter 3:15-16

I pray that this will serve as a starting point for many of you. This is not an exhaustive list and is not intended to be, but it is somewhere to start. Let us also remember to pray to God that in wrath, to remember mercy, but you can be sure of this: wrath is on the way.
