DENVER -- A group of atheists is paying for new billboards at three locations in Colorado.
The billboards say, "God is an imaginary friend. Choose reality, it will be better for all of us. The Colorado Coalition of Reason."
The billboards are being installed on Monday at Colfax Avenue and Ulster Street and at Federal Boulevard and Alaska Place in Denver. A third billboard is being installed at the Garden of the Gods exit of Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs. Click here to find out more!
The Boulder Atheists, a member of the Colorado Coalition Of Reason (COCORE), said it paid for the billboards to encourage an open dialog between atheists and the public on the role of religion in America.
Previous Billboards
COCORE has put up other billboards in the past three years.
In 2008, the group paid for 11 billboards around Denver and Colorado Springs that questioned the existence of God. A billboard at East Colfax Avenue and Quebec Street in Denver said, "Don't believe in God? You are not alone."
The group also erected a sign at then-Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden's Christmas decorations in 2009.
A year later, the group paid for three billboards protesting the nativity scene at Denver's City and County Building. The signs said, "Stop government support of religion, move this Denver nativity scene to a church."
Philippians 3:20-21 “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”
My daughter sent that to me today. I was thinking, how appropriate!
