Restaurant Patrons Began To Flee When They See What Couple Had With Them

A couple visiting a Nixa, Missouri restaurant left other patrons fleeing the area when they realized what the pair had with them. While some fellow customers stood their ground, not willing to be run off by the couple’s actions, they were still left with their nerves a bit rattled.
Imagine their surprise to see the following sight. Can you spot what sent chills down the spines of onlookers?

For those who may have missed it, draped across the man’s shoulders is a snake, believed to be a boa constrictor, but just when you thought this couldn’t get any more bizarre, you hear the reason the couple got away with bringing their unwanted companion to the establishment.
Lisa Loeffelholz had the pleasure of being present and observing the snake, which the man and woman had been holding, as it begin to slither down the booth behind the couple. Obviously feeling a little uneasy with what she saw, she notified the restaurant manager, who did approach the couple.
However, when the couple insisted the snake was a service animal and should be allowed to stay, the manager was too afraid to put their foot down, fearing they would violate someone’s rights. As Loeffelholz looked on in obvious disbelief, seeing the reptile being pulled by the woman and handed over to the man, the fellow patron had enough and decided to confront the couple herself, but she was given the same song and dance.
“He said, ‘It’s my service animal. And I’m allowed to have it because it helps me with my depression,’” she told a local news affiliate.
While the slippery excuse seemed to work that day, it’s far from the truth. Snakes are not legally deemed service animals. In fact, only dogs are legally recognized as service animals, according to the American’s with Disabilities Act.
Patrons could have notified police or animal control if the snake posed a concern for public safety, according to Jill Finney, Nixa city’s communications director, who further elaborated, “Management didn’t know what to do, because they didn’t want to violate anybody’s rights, and that’s understandable.”
This is the new America we live in. Someone can see something with their very own eyes that is obviously wrong, but someone spits out the word “rights” and others cower with their tail between their legs. We don’t want to offend anyone, now do we? Some selfish lunatic thinks it’s appropriate to bring a pet that is feared by other people into a public restaurant, and he gets away with it, as not to offend him — the other multitude of customers who are legitimately uncomfortable be damned. But, hey, at least he and his scaly buddy weren’t offended, right?
