This undated image made available in the Islamic State's English-language magazine Dabiq, shows Belgian Abdelhamid Abaaoud. Abated who was identified by French authorities on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, is the presumed mastermind of the attacks last Friday in Paris. A senior police official on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, said he believed the Belgian Islamic State militant was inside an apartment in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis with other heavily armed people. The terrorist mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud was confirmed killed by police in a statement delivered by the Paris Prosecutor on Thursday morning.
Abaaoud is a suspected integral leader in the series of brutal Paris attacks carried out last week that killed over 129 innocent civilians.
In a police raid in Saint-Denis early Wednesday that led to an exchange of heavy gunfire and an ongoing six-hour siege, two terrorists were confirmed killed – one of them the alleged “ringleader” of the most recent terrorist assault on Paris. ABC News reported:
The suspected ringleader of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, has been identified as one of those killed in Wednesday’s raid in the suburb of Saint Denis, the Paris prosecutor says.
His body was found riddled with bullets and shrapnel in a shattered apartment in the northern suburb.
The Belgian national, 28, was identified from his fingerprints.
Abaooud, also known as ‘Abou Omar the Belgian,’ was terminated with extreme prejudice after a rampage of terrorist attacks that spanned from the Middle East to Western Europe.
The Paris attacks were not the only heinous crimes against humanity the jihadist had engaged in.
The terrorist, who had joined the Islamic State in February, is seen in an ISIS propaganda video laughing and smiling while dragging around mutilated bodies attached to the back of a pickup truck.
Incredibly enough, European authorities had several brushes with Abaooud before the Paris attacks, and nonetheless failed to put an end to his reign of terror. Metro reported:
Abaaoud is suspected of involvement in several botched terrorist plots including an attack on a high-speed train which was foiled when the gunman was tackled by passengers.
Abaaoud escaped from Europe after Belgian police shot dead two of his fellow militants as they broke up a cell planning terror attacks on security personnel earlier this year.
Belgian-born alleged 'mastermind' of Paris attack named A French official has identified the alleged mastermind of the Paris attacks as Belgian-born Abdelhamid Abaaoud, AP reports. We reported earlier today that Abaaoud, a known extremist, was named in several police files alongside Ibrahim Abdeslam, who carried out the suicide attack at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe. Abaaoud is also linked to the thwarted Thalys train attack in August, by both Associated Press and Liberation. The attack happened onboard a high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris, via Brussels, when a suspected Islamist terrorist Ayoub El-Khazzani opened fire before being subdued by passengers. Liberation also linked Abaaoud to Sid Ahmed Ghlam, a French student charged with murder, attempted murder and terror offences. It is alleged that documents found at his home and in a search of his computer and telephone, suggested Ghlam was in contact with a French speaker in Syria who had ordered him to carry out an attack on a church.
Furthermore, the terrorist boasted openly about being arrested and let go, according to the Daily Mail:
Abaaoud told an IS propaganda magazine he was arrested in Europe in January preparing a mission to kill civilians and behead policemen. Incredibly, he claims he was not detained.
Before the police raid in Saint-Denis, a Belgian court in July sentenced Abaooud in absentia to 20 years in prison for recruiting terrorists in Syria. This time, justice came a little swifter – but unfortunately, still too late.
