Russia lauched airstrikes against Islamic State in September

The vile organisation is believed to have just 34 bases left as Vladimir Putin's bombers continue to blitz its jihadists.

Mohammad Ali al-Hakim of Iraq's al-Nakhil news agency said: "At present, [ISIS] only has 34 bases in Mosul, Raqqa, etc. which were many more in number."

He added: "The end of the [ISIS] which has been borne by the westerners is close."



Russian ground crew write on bombs destined for Syria

Moscow has ramped up its bid to wipe out the twisted militants since last Friday's massacre in Paris.

Islamic State terrorists brutally killed 130 people – including Briton Nick Alexander – and left hundreds more injured across the French capital.

Russian ground crews last week inscribed the words "for Paris" on a bomb later dropped on ISIS targets.

Another bomb featured the phrase "for ours" – a reference to the Russian passenger jet blown out of the sky in Egypt last month.

A defence spokesman said: "Pilots and technicians of Hmeymim airbase have sent their message to terrorists by priority airmail."

600 extremists were destroyed in a single airstrike on Friday, according to Russian media reports.

A total of 18 missiles are said to have rained down on fanatics in one of the largest strikes against ISIS in Syria.

Mr Putin – a close ally of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad – has not yet sent ground troops into the war-torn country.

But Kremlin officials have refused to ruled out the move to obliterate ISIS once and for all.

Washington and its allies have suggested Russia is seeking to prop up Assad's regime rather than defeat ISIS.

But Putin recently hit back, saying his country wants to "contribute to the fight against terrorism".

He added: "I think some of our partners simply have mush for brains.

"They do not have a clear understanding of what really happens in the country and what goals they are seeking to achieve."

This morning Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev claimed US actions in the Middle East had helped Islamic State gain influence.

The strengthening of Islamic State “became possible partly due to irresponsible U.S. politics” that focused on fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad instead of joining efforts to root out terrorism, Medvedev said on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.
