A Startling Statistic Reveals a Worrying Truth About Syrian Rebels
By Justen Charters (3 hours ago) | World
While the world currently focuses its attention on ISIS, a disturbing truth was just revealed about 1/3 of the rebel groups in Syria.
As it turns out, they could care less about democracy or human rights, they’re actually aiming for the same goal that ISIS has – a worldwide Islamic caliphate.
That’s right, they’re more than okay with public executions in the town square, terrorism like we’ve seen in Paris and elsewhere, and killing people in the name of jihad.
Sky News reported that:
The defeat of Islamic State will not end worldwide jihadist terrorism because as many as 15 hard-line Islamist militias are capable of succeeding the group in Syria, a new report suggests.
Nearly 100,000 fighters aligned with rebel factions in war-torn Syria follow the same religious and political ideology as IS, according to the report.
Some 60% of the major Syrian rebel groups are Islamist extremists, and if Western nations defeat only IS, other militias “will expand their horizons and launch attacks outside Syria”.
Rana Harbi, an Arab journalist, showed the disturbing image some rebels in Syria are using to replace pictures of where Assad once was:
And these children in Syria who are being groomed for jihad and murder are “not part of ISIS”:
And here’s a training camp in Syria that’s also “not affiliated with ISIS”:
The report might explain why a lot of Syrian rebels have left their Islamist groups and joined up with the well-funded and well-organized jihadists of the Islamic State.
Based on the evidence, we have a long way to go before we decimate the jihadist threat in the Middle East.
