A recently discovered cell phone of a dead ISIS fighter could go a long way towards proving that ISIS has a powerful regional ally: Turkey.
Turkey ranks tenth on the Global Firepower list of most powerful conventional military’s in the world, behind Japan at ninth and ahead of Israel at eleventh.
The mobile phone, discovered with the body of an ISIS ringleader, shows that the Turkish spy agency has been supporting ISIS.
Jabbar al’Ma’mouri told Soumeriya news on Monday, “The mobile phone was found with one of the killed ISIL (ISIS) leaders in the northern parts of the Salahuddin province two days ago.”
He said that the mobile set and history files contain messages from the Turkish spy agency that shows that Turkey has provided security at the points of entry that ISIS militants use to cross over from Turkey into Iraq.
Al’Ma’mouri also stated, “The mobile phone also contains other important information which cannot be disclosed now, and it has been delivered to the specialized security groups for further scrutiny.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has in the past accused Turkey of being an accomplice of ISIS, particularly following the downing of a Russian plane by Turkish forces.
He said, “Our military men are fighting terrorism, sacrificing their own lives, but today’s loss is a stab in the back by the accomplices of terrorism.”
The Russian ambassador to France, Alexander Orlov, said in November that Turkey plays an “ambiguous” role in role in the war against ISIS and has been an accomplice to terrorism.
In the same month, former U.S. State Department senior adviser David Phillips said, “Turkey’s role has not been ambiguous- it has overtly supported the ISIL.”
He continued, “It has provided logistical support, money, weapons, transport, and healthcare to wounded warriors.”
Phillips said that Turkey has been supporting ISIS because both groups want Syrian President Bashar al-Assad out of power and that there exists a “spiritual bond” between Turkey’s governing party and ISIS.
According to former Iraqi member of parliament Mowaffak al Rubaie, Turkey has also turned a blind eye toward ISIS oil being sold on the Turkish black market to the tune of $800 million dollars over an eight month period.
Rubaie also said, “Money and dollars generated by selling Iraqi and Syrian oil on the Turkish black market is like the oxygen supply to ISIS and its operation. Once you cut the oxygen then ISIS will suffocate.”
