The Taliban Just Issued This New Warning About Fake Refugees
Written by The Analytical Economist on December 27, 2015
The debate over screening refugees has thus far focused on the possibility of terrorists slipping through the cracks using fake passports. We know one of the Paris attackers was able to enter the EU as a fake refugee, so the possibility is real.
Need more evidence? ISIS sees the efficacy of the strategy, as a report released by Homeland Security Investigations stated, “ISIS likely has been able to print legitimate-looking Syrian passports since taking over the city of Deir ez-Zour last summer, home to a passport office with “boxes of blank passports” and a passport printing machine.”
Fake passports turns out to be just one issue we face in screening refugees – fake paperwork is another. And we’re being warned of this by the Taliban, of all sources.
As the Daily Caller reported:
The Taliban in Afghanistan claims that refugees are using fake death threat letters to gain entry to Western countries, according to an official statement.
Speaking under the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Taliban’s de-facto state in Afghanistan, the Taliban warns Western countries that refugees are falsifying documents in an attempt to seek asylum. Many Western countries, particularly those in the EU and U.S., have laws which provide asylum for refugees. Being able to show that they could face death if sent home may aid in a refugee’s chance of receiving asylum.
“Our countrymen forced into migration at the hands of the corrupt Kabul regime are utilizing every illegal mean available to seek permanent refuge overseas and build a better life for themselves,” notes the statement, “an important method among these illegal means is to fabricate threat letters indicating that they have received death threats and their lives are in danger at the hands of the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate back in their own country.”
So where are the refugees getting these supposed death threat letters? From none other than the mafia, according to the Taliban. “With this notice the Islamic Emirate wishes to inform all international Refugee [sic] organizations that the fabricated death threat letters being forwarded to them by the refugees have no verity and are sold to them by mafia groups for a meager price,” says the statement.
Whenever there’s a problem in the Middle East, liberals say that we should let the region fix their own problems. Yet as soon as millions of refugees — whom we have no possible way of screening adequately — want to enter the Western world, they throw up their hands and say “sure, why not”?
The five wealthiest Muslim countries are refusing refugees, as they believe “accepting large numbers of Syrian refugees is a serious threat to the safety of its citizens because terrorists could hide themselves among civilians.”
Maybe they can act rationally because they don’t have to fear being branded “Islamophobic.”
