Passengers gang-tackle Saudi Arabian man shouting 'God is great' on airline
Praised bin-Laden and sang of hating women...
On Continental flight 1113 from Portland to Houston, Saudi Arabian citizen Yazeed Mohammed-Abunayyan, 19, was none-too-thrilled not to be seated next to his travelling companion.
And to make the friendly skies seem even less-friendly, he was told to cease using his e-cigarette.
For whatever reason, Mohammed-Abunayyan became belligerent and violent.
As reported by KHOU.com of Houston, Texas, after the flight attendant told Mohammed-Abunayyan to stop using the e-cigarette:
"... court documents state that Abunayyan ignored her, then started yelling and cursing.
When the flight attendant left her seat and approached him, Abunayyan reportedly tried to punch her.
Abunayyan also allegedly hit or tried to hit several passengers who came to the flight attendant’s aid, all while speaking or singing about Osama bin Laden and professing his hatred for women.
And according to passenger Nancy Haywood:
"He was screaming, ‘Allah is great, Allah is great.’
And it kind of worries you when that happens, but believe me, there were enough men to hold him down."
According to fellow passengers, several men on the flight helped restrain Mohammed-Abunayyan while the flight attendant obtained plastic wrist and ankle restraints.
Fellow passenger Mark Foster added:
"Every guy that was in my area was ready to go, it was not even a thought.
You can tell buckles were off and people were already leaning toward the aisles."
20 minutes into the flight, the pilot returned to Portland, where Mohammed-Abunayyan and his companion were arrested for interfering with the operation of an aircraft.
Not First Brush With The Law...
According to KOBI-5 of Medford, Oregon, at the time of his actions on the aircraft, Mohammed-Abunayyan was on bail for a slew of violent charges.
The Sonoma State University student was arrested last Sunday for DUI and attempting to elude officers after police say he hit patrol cars and nearly ran over pedestrians during a police chase.
According to Jackson County District Attorney, Mark Huddleston:
"...the teen was charged with DUI, reckless driving, eluding police, and assault on an officer, among others.
But Abunayyan posted 10-percent of his $65,000 bail the next day."
