DECEPTION: THE VATICAN’S “MOTHER-MARY”
Mary plays a central part in the life of every Roman Catholic. From the very beginning of a young Catholic’s education, they are taught about the central role that Mary plays within the church. It is not unusual to hear a Roman Catholic to say that Protestants do not understand the Roman Catholic teaching regarding Mary, and that they do not worship her as they insist. As a former Roman Catholic I can attest to you that I most certainly did worship Mary, and I prayed my “Hail Mary” prayers while counting each prayer off while using my rosary beads. The most common set of rosary beads, contained five decades, or fifty “Hail Mary” prayers, in addition to another set of three “Hail Mary’s” at the beginning of the rosary. There were also other prayers represented by the beads on the rosary beads, including the Apostle’s Creed, the Our Father, The “Glory Be” (to the Father). After the rosary the “Hail Holy Queen” prayer would usually be recited also. The praying of the rosary is super major within the Roman Catholic system, and you can hear the rosary being prayed regularly on Roman Catholic cable television programs also. To say that Mary plays a central part within the Roman Catholic system is an understatement. The late Pope John Paul II had the words “Totus Tuus Sum Maria” sewn on the inside of his Papal garments, which are translated “Mary I am totally yours” in English! If Pope John Paul II let it be known that he belonged totally to Mary, then I can say with complete certainty, that the late Pope worshiped Mary!
The modern day Roman Catholic Popes have consistently entrusted the care and protection of the many different countries that they have visited to Mary. Pope John Paul II entrusted the country of Poland into the hands of Mary not long before he died. The Roman Catholic church teaches that Mary is the “Mother of God” which would make Mary a deity in and of herself, but the only problem is that the eternal and Almighty God, does not have a mother.
The following statement made by Pope Francis is nothing less than amazing to me:
Visiting Naples in March, Pope Francis told priests, nuns, and seminarians that one way to make sure Jesus is the center of their lives is to ask “his mother to take you to him. A priest, a brother, a nun who does not love Mary, who does not pray to her — I would even say one who does not recite the rosary — well, if you don’t love the mother, the mother will not give you the Son.”
The Pope told the leaders in his very own Roman Catholic church that Mother Mary would take them to Jesus, and that was the sure way of their making Jesus the center of their lives. Then Pope Francis went on to say that if they did not love Mary, and pray to her (including the Rosary) then the Mother would NOT give them the Son! [Mother and son: Pope Francis has a personal, intimate devotion to Mary, Catholic News Service, Vatican City.]
The Roman Catholic Pope Francis was pushing hard about being devoted to Mary, so much so, that he told them that “Mary” would not “give them the Son” if they did not pray to her, and that included praying with a set of rosary beads. That statement from the Pope, clearly shows me that he was NOT speaking under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, but he was being led by a demon spirit, and that same spirit caused him to talk that way! The Spirit of the living God, is the Spirit of truth, and you will not find anything even remotely close in the scriptures to what the Pope said. As a former Roman Catholic I can assure you that you have absolutely no need to go through Mary, to get to her Son Jesus. Mary does not even factor into the equation with a person’s relationship with God. Jesus Christ made it very clear that the believer that HE was the one that the believer must go through to get to the Father!
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
Do you see anything in that verse of scripture regarding the necessity of going through Mary, so that she can “give you the Son”? Of course you don’t and you never will either. As a former Roman Catholic I know full well the bondage of that false religious system, and it was the Holy Spirit of truth who brought me out.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13
The Lord Jesus Christ never exalted his earthly mother Mary, and he always pointed his followers to the person of the Holy Spirit, also referred to as the comforter.
”But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” John 15:26
When the Holy Spirit comes into a person’s life he will ALWAYS point that person to the person of Jesus Christ. When I was truly born again of the Spirit, I lost all desire to pray to Mary, and it was the Holy Spirit of truth who guided me through the scriptures. The comforter (Holy Spirit) showed me the absolute idolatry of praying to Mary, and the idolatry of the entire system of the Roman Catholic system! Here is an excerpt from an article dated January 1st, 2015, concerning the Jesuit Pope Francis and his extreme devotion to “Mother Mary”:
At one point, the Pope also introduced an impromptu Marian devotion, inviting the assembly in St. Peter’s Basilica to rise, face a statue of Mary, and repeat three times, “Mary, Mother of God.” The Pope recalled that at the 5th-century Council of Ephesus, a crowd actually shouted that phrase at the gathered bishops while waving clubs at them, threatening violence if they didn’t formally proclaim Mary as the Mother of God. This time, Francis jokingly invited people to make the chant “without clubs.” He led the crowd in St. Peter’s Square in the same chant during his Angelus address. [Pope Francis opens 2015 with calls for peace, loyalty to the Church, and devotion to Mary, By John L. Allen Jr., Associate editor January 1, 2015]
An article in Time magazine entitled “Why Pope Francis Is Obsessed With Mary” dealt with the topic of the current Roman Catholic Pope and his devotion to Mary.
“Devotion to Mary is an integral part of being Catholic. It also plays a poignant role in the life of Pope Francis, who is known to pray the rosary three times a day. A pope dedicated to Mary is about as guaranteed as a pope who is Catholic. But Francis’s Marian devotion stands apart from his predecessors for one reason: Francis’s conception of Mary is not just as the meek mother of God, but also as a strong and courageous leader of the faith.
While studying in Germany in the late 1980s, the future pope, then named Jorge Mario Bergoglio, developed an affinity for the baroque painting “Mary Untier of Knots.” The work depicts Mary untying a knotted rope while stomping her foot on a serpent. The message of the painting is clear: Mary solves problems, heals divisions, and defeats evil.
Moved by the painting, Pope Francis brought it back to Argentina and created a popular devotion to Mary Untier of Knots. One can say with confidence that the same Mary now stands as his patron as he navigates the church’s way forward during an exciting, uncertain time.” [Christopher J. Hale, Time Magazine time.com, March 25, 2015]
As a former Roman Catholic I can certainly attest to the fact that Mary plays a central part within the Roman Catholic system. In fact, there are probably millions of Catholic people who regularly pray the rosary, regardless of whether they are avid churchgoers. Mary is big in the Roman Catholic church, and she is big because of Rome’s own tradition.
An article by the Catholic News Service also addressed the Pope’s Marian Devotion:
Although his devotion to the Mother of God is profound, it is simple in many ways: Mary is a mother to every believer; Jesus would not leave his followers orphans.
While his connection to Mary clearly is a matter of heart and mind, it is also physical. Whenever Pope Francis passes a statue or icon of Mary, he kisses it or allows his hand to rest tenderly upon it.
Honoring the Mother of God, of course, is a solid part of Catholic tradition and a mainstay in the devotion and teaching of the popes. St. John Paul II’s motto, “Totus Tuus” (“All yours”), and the large M on his coat of arms were just the most graphic elements of a devotion that led to a whole body of teaching about Mary, her role in Catholics’ faith life and the importance of praying the rosary. [Mother and son: Pope Francis has a personal, intimate devotion to Mary, April 20, 2015]
As you can see Mary is constantly referred to as the “Mother of God” but that in itself, is a very deceptive description. There is absolutely no question that Jesus Christ was Emmanuel, which means God in the flesh, but the deity part ends with Jesus himself. When we give the title “Mother of God” to Mary it makes it sound as if she is deity herself, and that is not the case at all. Mary is described in the Bible as being the mother of Jesus, and she was used by God, to bring the Lord Jesus Christ into this world.
If people would simply go to the scriptures to see what they have to say about Mary the Jewish virgin they might be surprised. You will not find Mary being elevated above any other person in the Bible, but you will certainly learn that Mary was a very humble woman who was used mightily by God. It is a well known fact that Mary is declared to be without sin by the Roman Catholic church and that issue will be the starting point for this chapter. I obviously do not believe that because that is not what is taught in the scriptures, and if the Bible does not teach it then why should I listen to the words of mere men.
Mary Was a Sinner
The Bible clearly shows us that Mary was a sinner in need of a Savior.
“And MARY said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in GOD MY SAVIOUR. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen (helped) his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.” (Luke 1:46-56)
In the passage above we find Mary giving all the praise and glory to God because he regarded her low (humble )estate. Mary also rejoiced in God her Savior, and we know that only sinners need a Savior. There is not even a small inkling that this humble Jewish virgin ever thought of herself as being sinless. In fact I believe if the real Mary would have known how she was being elevated by the traditions of men she would not be pleased at all. Mary knew the scriptures and you know that she would have been aware of scripture passages such as the following from Psalm fourteen:
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Psalms 14:1-3)
Mary had a healthy “fear of God” in her heart and she knew that her Holy and mighty God showed her great mercy. Mary needed mercy just like every one of us needs mercy. In and of ourselves we are absolutely nothing without the mercy of God. In fact the longer I walk with the Lord, the more I realize that I would be in the lowest part of hell if it were not for the mercy that God has shown me. The Jewish virgin Mary knew what a tremendous blessing had come her way. I mean we are talking about carrying the Saviour of the world in her womb. That is nothing less than incredible. There are still millions that mock the virgin birth of Jesus the Messiah into this world but it is as true and as real as the Sun shining in the sky. It is hard for many to believe that God could, or would, use a sinner for his own glory but we find that throughout the scriptures. The prophets Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel and Zechariah, were mightily used by the Lord, but they were all sinners nonetheless. They needed to be redeemed and saved just like the rest of us. Moses was a man who was mightily used by the Lord but he was a sinner like us too. The New Testament is in agreement with the Old Testament regarding this also:
“As it is written, There is NONE righteous, no, NOT ONE:” (Romans 3:10)
“For ALL have SINNED, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)
Here is the teaching from the Roman Catholic church:
The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God “the All-Holy” (Panagia) and celebrate her as “free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature.” By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long. [Catechism of the Catholic Church, Image- Double Day Books 1995, Item #493, page 138)
As I said before, the scriptures do not teach that Mary was free from the stain of sin at all. This is nothing more than Roman Catholic tradition, and this teaching is diametrically opposed to the scriptures.
The Jewish Virgin Mary Also Needed Atonement For Sin
Mary also recognized the fact that the Lord was remembering the mercy that He had promised to Israel through Abraham and His seed (offspring). God chose a Jewish virgin to bring forth his Son into the world and he would be delivered into this world just as any other Jewish young man.
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:4-6)
The Lord came into this world at just the right time. The fact that Jesus would be born of a virgin was prophesied by Isaiah hundreds of years before the event actually happened!
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)
The word Immanuel (or Emmanuel) means God with us, and that testifies to the deity of Jesus Christ. Jesus would come forth from the womb of this Jewish virgin because Mary was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. There was no human sexual relations between Mary and a man.
“And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of HER purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” (Luke 2:21-24)
In the passage above, we are given further proof that Mary was a mere mortal like the rest of us. Mary observed the Jewish Law and she did exactly what that Law told her to do (see Leviticus 12:1-8). Mary was unclean for seven days and on the eighth day she brought Jesus to be physically circumcised, in accordance with Leviticus 12:2-3. Mary then continued in her days of purification (33 days) because that was what was required of her under the Jewish law (Leviticus 12:4). Mary then brought forth the required sacrifices as is written in the following scripture:
“And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a SIN offering: and the priest shall make an ATONEMENT for HER, and SHE shall be CLEAN.” (Leviticus 12:8)
As recorded in Lukes gospel account (Luke 2:24), Mary brought forth the offerings required in “the law of the Lord.” It is most important that you see that one of the offerings was for the burnt offering and the other one was for a SIN offering. Mary needed an ATONEMENT for her OWN SIN! It was AFTER the ATONEMENT that MARY was made CLEAN, which shows us that MARY was UNCLEAN prior to the ATONEMENT for her SIN! To declare that the Jewish virgin Mary was conceived without sin is to dispute and contradict scripture. So we may rightly conclude, that according to scripture, Mary was in fact a sinner. I was raised as a Roman Catholic so I formerly observed the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary herself was conceived without sin. In other words they teach that she, like Jesus, was born sinless. I turned away from that false teaching.
God Does Not Have a Mother
The Roman Catholic system loves to refer to Mary as the “Mother of God” but Almighty God is deity, and therefore he does not have a mother. If Mary were the “mother of God” then she would also be a deity.
It is obvious from the sections above that Mary cannot be described as the Mother of God, because that would make her deity or divine. Simply put, God does not have a mother. The last time that we find Mary mentioned in the Bible is in the book of Acts:
“Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and MARY the mother of JESUS, and with his brethren.” (Acts 1:12-14)
Mary is listed in the passage above alongside the other followers of Jesus Christ. Here we find Mary in prayer and supplication along with everyone else. There is not even a hint that she held a position above anyone else in that upper room, nor is there a hint that any of them were praying to her.
There is another interesting passage of scripture where Jesus had just cast a demon out of a person, and the religious crowd insisted that Jesus did that by the power of Beelzebub, the “chief of devils”. Jesus made it clear to the religious crowd, that a kingdom cannot be divided against itself, and that he cast that demon out by the “finger of God”. (Luke 11:14-28) Satan hates Jesus Christ and he will do everything that he can do, to discredit him and his followers. It was no mere coincidence that the Jewish Pharisees reacted so strongly against Jesus Christ, because he was upsetting their religious kingdom. Satan had been having an easy time with them over the many years, but now someone more powerful had arrived on the scene, and Satan did not like that. While Jesus was speaking on the subject of casting out demons, a woman began to lift her voice and speak to Christ.
“And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps (breasts) which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Luke 11:27-28
Satan had just used the Jewish unbelievers to insist that Christ was working under the dominion of Beelzebub, the chief of devils, and now a woman raised her voice just as Jesus was explaining the truth about his power over demons. What did she do? She brought attention to Mary, the earthly mother of Jesus, by talking about the blessedness of her (Mary’s) womb, and the breasts (Mary’s) which nursed Christ. More than likely the woman did not realize what she was doing, but Satan is ever so clever in the way he diverts attention from the person of Jesus Christ alone. Jesus was very well aware of what was taking place and he immediately corrected the woman, and brought the focus back to the scriptures, and those who obey them.
You will find a similar occurrence in the scriptures when Jesus was preaching to his followers while his brothers and sisters were outside. Somebody notified Jesus about his natural “earthly” family being outside amongst the large multitude seeking to enter, but Jesus, once again set the record straight regarding spiritual things.
“Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” Luke 8:19-21
Once again we see attention being brought to the earthly family of Jesus, which included his earthly brothers and sisters. There was a great crowd gathered outside the place where Jesus Christ was ministering the gospel, and his family could not gain entrance because of the crowd. Jesus was informed about this, but he made it clear that his true family was sitting inside, listening to the scriptures being preached. The response from Jesus was almost identical to what he spoke when the woman raised her voice up in Luke 11:27-28. In Matthew’s account of the same incident, we can see that Jesus made it clear that he showed no partiality to his earthly family, by the way he answered.
“While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50
Wow! If ever there was a passage of scripture that should obliterate the idolatrous attention given to “Mother Mary” by the church of Rome, this would be it. Who is my mother? And who are my brethren? The Lord was clearly instructing the people about the huge difference between the natural earthly family and the heavenly spiritual family. It was not that Mary was not part of the spiritual family at that point in time, but Jesus knew that he had to get his point across, even if people might have interpreted him as “dissing” his mother, and the rest of the family. Jesus showed no partiality, even when it came right down to his natural family on this earth. Jesus did not exalt his own mother above anyone else and we should follow that example also.
Jesus Christ stands alone, with no equal, and people need to understand that. The same spiritual principle can be seen when the Lord Jesus Christ was transfigured on the mount, with Peter, James and John watching the whole thing. In the middle of Jesus Christ being transfigured by the glory of God, Moses and Elijah suddenly appeared, and they were on conversation with Jesus.
“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.” Matthew 17:1-8
It is interesting to note that Moses and Elijah were there and that they appeared ALIVE and in LIVING color. They were in conversation with Jesus Christ and they “spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:31) Now that should put some bounce in you step right there. Moses and Elijah were two of the most famous people in the history of God’s people on this earth, and they knew that Jesus would accomplish what he was sent to do. I want you to notice that Peter thought it would be a great idea to build three tabernacles (tents), one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah but God quickly dealt with that idea. The voice of God spoke out of the cloud and said “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matthew 17:5) Once again we see the same spiritual principle at work, and God wants us to know that Jesus Christ stands alone with no equal on earth!
Should My Focus Be On Mary Or Jesus Christ?
It is rather interesting that the counterfeit Roman Catholic doctrine regarding Mary, mimics actual truth regarding Jesus Christ. Here are four instances where you will find Satan at work in his attempt to take the focus off of Jesus Christ, the giver of life, and place it on Mary.
1] The Roman Catholic teaching known as The Immaculate Conception (Mary being conceived without sin) is a DEMONIC COUNTERFEIT IMITATION, which mimics the TRUE sinlessness of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
2] The Roman Catholic teaching of The Assumption of Mary into Heaven, (Mary being raised into heaven without dying) is a DEMONIC COUNTERFEIT IMITATION, which mimics the TRUE ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven. (Luke 24:50-53, Acts 1:8-11)
3] The Roman Catholic teaching of Mary being the Queen of Heaven, is a DEMONIC COUNTERFEIT IMITATION, which mimics the TRUE exalted one, Jesus Christ who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! (Deuteronomy 10:17, Psalm 136:3, 1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 17:14, 19:16)
4] The Roman Catholic teaching of Mary as a mediator (mediatrix) is a DEMONIC COUNTERFEIT IMITATION, which mimics the one and only mediator, who is Jesus Christ! (1 Timothy 2:5)
I do not apologize for telling you that those teachings are not of God at all. They are demonic in origin and they are meant to divert a persons attention away from the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the only sinless human being to walk this earth. Satan and his principalities and powers, seek to take your focus off of Jesus Christ and to put it on the person of Mary. Satan has implanted those false doctrines within the Roman Catholic system, and billions have been deceived over the centuries, including myself.
You will often hear the Roman Catholic teachers speak about going “through Mary” to get to Jesus.
The truth of the matter is that Jesus Christ was the only person who could possibly atone for the sin of the world, and that is what he did when he shed his sinless blood upon the cross. Peace has been made through the blood of the cross and a person can be reconciled back to God because of what Christ has done on the cross. (Colossians 2:14, 20, Romans 5:6-10) Jesus Christ rose from the dead and he ascended into heaven where he is reigning NOW as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Revelation 17:14, 19:16) After he rose from the dead he told his disciples that ALL power has been given unto him in heaven and earth, and if that does not speak of power and authority then nothing does. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Does Mary Play a Part In The Salvation of a Soul?
That might sound like a ridiculous question to you if you are not a Roman Catholic, but the church of Rome does teach that Mary plays a part in the salvation of the soul. Here is what they teach their followers:
“This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation…. Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” [Item# 969 RCC 1994]
It is truly incredible that the church of Rome uses the words, “saving office” when speaking of the Jewish virgin Mary. I cannot overemphasize the truth that there is absolutely no hope outside of the person of Jesus Christ. Eternal life is in the Son and Mary has absolutely nothing to do with the salvation of any soul. Satan will do anything that he can do to divert your attention away from the only one who can save your soul, and that is Jesus Christ.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of GOD is eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our LORD.” (Romans 6:23)
“And this is the record, that GOD hath given to us ETERNAL LIFE, and this life is in his SON. He that hath the SON hath LIFE; and he that hath not the SON of GOD hath not LIFE.” (1 John 5:11-12)
“And we know that the SON of GOD is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his SON JESUS CHRIST. This is the true GOD, and ETERNAL LIFE.” (1 John 5:20)
The Scriptures teach us that God is our Savior, and they also tell us that Jesus Christ is our Savior, simple because Jesus Christ is part of the eternal triune Godhead. There is no room for Mary in the eternal Godhead at all.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he SAVED us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
After the Gentile woman of Samaria spoke with Jesus at the well, she returned to her town and told others about him. A crowd from her town returned to meet with Jesus for themselves, and they were convinced that he was the Saviour.
“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” John 4:39-42
Do you find any mention at all of the need for the “saving office” of Mary in that passage of scripture? Of course not, and you will not find any mention about the “saving office” of Mary anywhere at all in the New Testament, regarding the salvation of any soul. Why is that? Because that teaching is simply another man-made invention of the Roman Catholic system. The woman of Samaria met the real Jesus Christ that day, and her life was changed forever. That same woman became an ambassador for Christ and told the people in her town. She could not hold it in, and it paid off because others came to know the Lord through her witnessing to them. They knew that Jesus was the Savior of the world!
I must also mention here that the church of Rome teaches and believes that Mary remained a virgin until the very end, and that is simply not true. The scriptures teach us plainly that Mary remained a virgin UNTIL Jesus Christ was brought forth into this world, but AFTER that, she had normal marriage relations with Joseph her husband. Here is a passage of scripture which proves that point. Mary had several children AFTER Jesus Christ was brought forth into the world!
“And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” Mark 6:1-4
