(Friday Church News Notes, March 16, 2012, www.wayoflife.org, ) Family Radio founder Harold Camping has finally admitted that his date-setting schemes were wrong and sinful. In a statement on Family Radio’s website he said: “We realize that many people are hoping they will know the date of Christ’s return. In fact for a time Family Radio fell into that kind of thinking. But we now realize that those people who were calling our attention to the Bible’s statement that ‘of that day and hour knoweth no man’ (Matthew 24:36 & Mark 13:32), were right in their understanding of those verses and Family Radio was wrong. ... We tremble before God as we humbly ask Him for forgiveness for making that sinful statement. We are so thankful that God is so loving that He will forgive even this sin. ... God has humbled us through the events of May 21, to continue to even more fervently search the Scriptures (the Bible), not to find dates, but to be more faithful in our understanding.” Camping had set dates for the Lord’s return in 1988, 1994, and 2011.

Well, that's nice...now what is he going to do about helping his followers who gave him everything and are now destitute? Too bad the "Five Birdbrains" don't get it and still insist they can figure out the date...

I do agree with what you are saying POH, but I don't think we should place all of the blame squarely on Camping. Some of this is his followers fault too. If they hadn't been so darn gullible in the first place they wouldn't have lost anything.
There's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere, lol! If only I wasn't suffering from this 'menopausal brain fog' at the moment I would know what it is! ;D

The lesson is simple: be a Berean. Had they searched the Scriptures, they clearly state NO MAN knows the day or the hour.
As for Camping, those who purport to be teachers/pastors come under a more severe judgment.

Exactly on both points.
And how many times did Camping get the date wrong? And his followers STILL went ahead and believed him the second (and I think) the third time too?
Stupid does not even begin to describe that.

That's why I have the "Here's Your Sign" thread - maybe seeing all this foolishness and stupidity in one place will wake some people up!
