Cockatoo Finds Out He’s Going To The Vet, Reaction Has My Entire Family In Stitches
Most animals hate going to the vet. Although car rides could go anywhere in the world, they somehow they just know when you’re taking them to the animal hospital or veterinary office. And Max the cockatoo is no exception – he absolutely hates going in for his checkup.
While some people might find Max’s response alarming, you should know that a cockatoo’s scream is normal. It might be absolute torture for the owner, but it is just one way the cockatoo expresses himself.
In the video, the bird’s owner is telling Max that he has to get into his carrier so he can go to the vet. But the bird’s response is priceless. Check out what he says to the pet owner in the video below!
“Shut up you! Shut up you! Shut up you!” the cockatoo cries over and over. Meanwhile, the owner laughs and films the bird as he tries to hide in the closet.
The video creator shared the following about the incident in the description: “Max knows when he sees his carrier that it’s a visit to the vet and gets pretty vocal about it. Max is saying his own words that only he understands for the most part. The only things I know he is saying is “I don’t wanna” and “What did I say”. He is actually a very happy and loving bird, but like any kid, he needs to express himself every now and then.”
Viewers had a lot to say about the vocal cockatoo, including:
“That’s how I feel when I have to go see the dentist,” Elsa shared. Her replied earned about 150 likes.
“O my goodness this bird does not want to go to the vet he is screaming at you,” cadence Plays Robox wrote.
A cockatoo’s scream is a normal occurrence according to Cockatoo-info.com: “Screaming out of frustration or boredom is common among cockatoos. Often this screaming behavior is actually trained by the owners of the bird: every time the bird start to scream people will go to see what’s going on or try to make the bird stop screaming (“Shut up!” ). Negative attention is also attention for a bored bird. Do not underestimate the volume and duration of this screaming, it is not easily ignored.”

“Every cockatoo will scream. This is natural behavior and is mostly used to communicate with group members…If you have more than one cockatoo, they will usually scream together. Please keep in mind that this behavior is natural and should not be curbed.”
Although Max’s owner is not too disturbed by the bird’s loud screams, excessive screaming can be curbed.
“To stop excessive screaming, permanent changes need to be made to the cage and your interaction with the bird,” Cockatoo-ino.com writes. “It should be able to perform natural behavior and should get enough things to do to relieve boredom.”
